Direct message the job poster from Granite Source Power

Title: Development Director/Manager/Associate – Northeast

About Granite Source Power

Granite Source Power (GSP) was founded in 2022 to develop standalone battery energy storage (BESS) and solar + BESS projects. GSP currently has a growing pipeline of more than 5 GW of projects across multiple RTOs and states and is backed by a $40M investment from New Energy Capital. GSP is differentiated from other developers by its best-in-class in-house siting platform, owner-operator mindset, and its “no egos” collaborative team culture.

GSP’s core values are integrity and honesty. We create long-lasting relationships based on those principles, and we seek out partners, including employees and investors, whose ethics, approach, and goals align with ours.

Opportunity Overview

GSP is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual looking to make an impact at a growing company. We make informed decisions quickly, maintain a flexible strategy to seize unique opportunities when and where they arise, and provide our employees with meaningful upside in the value we create.

GSP’s Northeast Developer will “own” their projects in the northeastern energy markets (NYISO and/or ISONE) and serve as our boots-on-the-ground developer in the region. As an early member of a lean team, this Developer will play a critical role shaping GSP’s strategy and approach to development in the Northeast, deepening GSP’s knowledge of evolving risks and opportunities, and advancing development on projects in the region.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Act as on-the ground developer for standalone battery energy storage projects in New York and/or New England
  • Collaborate with Head of Siting and Strategy to identify market conditions and key drivers of site economics to inform GIS siting platform and project siting preferences
  • Work with Head of Interconnection and Transmission to identify viable project locations and evaluate specific sites for POI right-of-way, deliverability, potential network upgrades, and LMPs
  • Proactively remain informed on key market and competitive landscape developments, including through attendance at conferences and webinars, membership in working groups, and informal networking
  • Complete desktop and in-person reviews of potential sites for feasibility
  • Originate project sites through direct outreach to landowners, as well by developing and managing engagements with other site origination partners
  • Maintain close relationships with key local stakeholders, including landowners, neighbors, community leaders, and town and county officials
  • Travel to project sites as needed to advance development, including meeting with county or local officials, meeting with landowners, accompanying consultants to site or meetings, etc.
  • Develop and manage network of consultants to support development, including environmental surveys, local/state/federal permitting, real estate and title work, engineering and design, interconnection, and offtake
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, while providing feedback on key decision points
  • Work with CFO to support project sales, including identifying and connecting with potential project buyers, communicating key upcoming milestones that could drive project sale timing, and supporting project due diligence and negotiations

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of renewable energy or battery energy storage development, preferably in New York or the East Coast (PJM, ISONE, NYISO)
  • Understanding of project development processes, including key value drivers, common project risks, and available risk mitigants
  • Ability to communicate honestly and build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including landowners, local authorities, and community members who may be opposed to projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Location

Candidates for this role should be located in or willing to relocate to the Tri-State area (NY/NJ/CT) or New England to facilitate frequent travel to project sites and a connection to local communities in the area. GSP is headquartered in Portsmouth, NH but is a remote-first company.

Compensation and Benefits

GSP offers competitive compensation, including a base salary and upside participation through cash bonuses and/or equity. GSP offers competitive benefits, including health/dental/vision insurance and unlimited PTO.
