Position Overview

As an SBA Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in our SBA Lending Division, serving as the primary liaison between our business development officers, borrowers, and the US Small Business Administration. This remote position involves assessing and documenting credit risk for term loans, ensuring compliance with SBA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan applications for small to mid-size commercial businesses based on current SBA guidelines.
  • Utilize judgmental analysis for primary underwriting, including financial statement analysis, collateral evaluation, and credit background assessments.
  • Identify credit weaknesses and mitigate risks while adhering to policy guidelines.
  • Act as a key liaison between credit administration, sales teams, and clients, maintaining effective communication throughout the loan process.
  • Manage ongoing portfolio activities including annual reviews, credit renewals, and monitoring financial compliance.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to structure SBA loans effectively.
  • Understanding of real estate loan processes, including appraisals and title reviews.
  • Familiarity with SBA loan products and SOP.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and independently manage workload efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the capacity to resolve issues promptly.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and willingness to adapt to new technological systems.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields preferred.
  • Formal credit training is advantageous.
  • Physical ability to sustain sitting and occasional standing, with proficiency in PC usage.
