The purpose of this position is to assist the assigned department with projects by operating different types of equipment and maintenance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Transports, sets up, and operates equipment such as front-end loader, backhoe, mini-excavator, bobcat, dump truck, hydro seeder, etc. to assist with a variety of construction.
Performs inspection or preoperational checklist on all equipment and determines and/or conducts preventative maintenance and cleaning.
Generates and completes all assigned work orders and documents daily work activities.
Provides information to customers as requested.
Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures, and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment in the absence of a Water Crew Supervisor.
Supplemental Functions
Performs other similar duties as required.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, and talking.
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 25 -50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.
Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, and physical hazards.

Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalency, with at least three (3) years of relevant experience operating equipment; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
