Senior Legal Counsel

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to support their operations within the United States.

This role involves working with the General Counsel to provide expert legal advice, with a strong focus on construction and engineering law. The successful candidate will be a trusted business partner, advising management at all levels on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate risk, compliance, and day-to-day operational issues.

The Role and Responsibilities:

• Legal Support: Provide comprehensive legal guidance on matters impacting the business, particularly in relation to construction and engineering agreements, including EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, design agreements, EHS processes, labour agreements, and subcontractor agreements.

• Document Management: Draft, review, and revise key legal documents that affect the company’s daily operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and US legal requirements, ranging from shareholder records to ERISA management.

• Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Investigate, respond to, and advise on regulatory matters involving state and federal actions like the NLRB, OSHA, and EEOC. Manage domestic employment matters, including litigation and claims, in collaboration with the Human Resources department.

• Project & Policy Management: Lead and manage assigned legal projects, ensuring timely completion. Collaborate with other departments such as HR and compliance to interpret, defend, and enforce corporate policies and procedures (corporate governance, ethics, Code of Conduct, leases etc).

• Additional Duties: Engage in other legal matters as assigned, including environmental, intellectual property, and other commercial legal issues. Counsel senior management on legal processes and corporate risk management.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A qualified lawyer (Juris Doctor Degree) with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of US laws and regulations, especially those relevant to the construction industry.
• Must be licensed and in good standing in STATE
• Experience in a similar role within a construction or engineering environment is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents.
• Excellent knowledge of corporate governance and risk management practices
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise legal advisory and support to the General Counsel.
