Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to join their team.We're seeking a talented Mine Planning Engineer to join our team in Southern Utah. You'll play a key role in extracting high-quality copper ore efficiently and sustainably, ensuring the success, safety, and profitability of our operations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize mine plans (short & long-term) for complex sulfide and oxide ore bodies.
Design mine pits, phases, sequences, and waste management to maximize ore quality.
Analyze the economic and production impacts of your plans.
Oversee or review drill and blast designs, prioritizing wall stability.
Conduct studies to boost production efficiency and quality control.
Lead improvement projects, mentor junior staff, and support mine operations.
Track production, evaluate performance, and collaborate on safe mining practices.
Utilize mine planning software (Surpac, Whittle, etc.) to model mining scenarios.
Recommend mining methods and equipment for optimal ore extraction.
Implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
Prepare technical reports and presentations on ore quality and planning strategies.
Manage mine planning projects, coordinating with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Mining Engineering or a related field.
Extensive experience in mine planning, especially with complex ore bodies.
Proven ability to prioritize ore quality in planning.
Drill and blast expertise (design, management, wall control).
Proficiency in mine planning software (Surpac, Whittle, Minesched, Talpac).

Proficiency in mine planning and design software.
