Senior Process Safety Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team in Atlanta, Georgia. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our operations by implementing and managing comprehensive process safety programs. This position requires a deep understanding of process safety principles, regulatory compliance, and risk management in the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain process safety management (PSM) systems in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA) to identify potential safety hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Lead and participate in process safety audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses to identify underlying causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process safety considerations are integrated into project design, operations, and maintenance activities.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to engineering, operations, and management teams.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to enhance employee awareness and competency in process safety principles.
• Monitor and evaluate process safety performance metrics and trends, and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of process safety incidents and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging trends, and technological advancements in process safety.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in process safety engineering within the oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety management systems, regulatory requirements (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP), and industry standards (API, NFPA).
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in process safety software tools and applications.
