About us

Amalgamated Research LLC (ARi) is a supplier of chromatography, adsorption, and ion exchange technology and equipment specialized in commercializing innovative technology at large industrial scale. ARi develops and installs industrial separation and purification systems, including chromatography and ion exchange processes, serving a range of markets including the direct lithium extraction industry. ARi’s patented fluid distribution and mixing technology de-risks scale-up allowing separation processes to be reliably scaled from pilot plant data up to industrial vessels exceeding 20-ft in diameter, with no degradation in equipment performance. ARi provides a full spectrum of customer support services, from proof of concept through to industrial-scale installation. Comprehensive analytical services and a wide range of pilot equipment are available on-site to support process development and scale-up.

We are proud to be advancing the lithium industry. This direct lithium extraction pilot plant will be shipping to our customer in the next month once water testing and final inspection are complete. We are grateful to our team of engineers and technicians for the craftmanship and expertise that goes into fabricating such a sophisticated piece of equipment. Please contact us at https://lnkd.in/gkDnmZqA for any inquiries relating to the fabrication and delivery of ion exchange, adsorption, or chromatography equipment at any scale.

ARi is pleased to share the results of the first phase of direct lithium extraction technology development! Minimizing the water requirement is vital to preserving water resources in communities where DLE is deployed. ARi's technology excels at meeting this goal by only consuming 27 cubic meters of water per ton of lithium carbonate produced while also achieving an impressively high lithium recovery of at least 95%. The next phase of development will focus on further increasing recovered lithium concentration in the product stream. ARi's decades-long track record of delivering unusually large adsorbent equipment to the sugar industry places it at the forefront as a supplier of fully scalable DLE equipment and technology. ARi will be holding a two-day short course on adsorption, ion exchange and industrial chromatography on September 10 – 11, 2024. This year, the presentations will have a particular focus on direct lithium extraction and the lithium industry. However, the course will cover the fundamentals of theory and the practical application of adsorbent-based separations, which will be broadly applicable across a range of industries. The ARi short course emphasizes education, while providing an opportunity to create your own network of experts and industry suppliers. We hope to see you there! If you have any questions about the course, please feel free to contact us for more information. #lithium #DLE

ARi is excited to commission a commercial-scale SMB system for molasses desugarization this upcoming summer. This massive project requiring 24 columns with 21-ft diameter columns was made possible by our close engineering partners and our innovative chromatography technology and will increase molasses processing capacity for Michigan Sugar by 325 tons per day. Excellent work by the Michigan Sugar Company, Escon, and Amalgamated Research LLC teams!
