Senior Scientist, Process Development
PacBio is seeking a driven process development Senior Scientist with a strong biochemistry and molecular biology background. Candidate should have extensive hands-on laboratory experience in the following areas reagent formulation, sample preparation, analytical assay development, automation, and scale-up production of reagents.
In this position, the candidate will contribute to the following product transfer from R&D to manufacturing, manufacturing development, assay development, specification development, vendor qualification, product stability studies, documentation, developing BOMs and parts for new products, and coordinate training and transfer activities for QC / manufacturing teams.
Primary Responsibilities Include

Primary Responsibilities Include
- Conduct laboratory work under general direction of supervisor.
- Hands-on testing and integration of assay workflows onto sequencing platforms.
- Help plan, conduct, analyze, interpret, and report recommendations based on tested experimental results.
- Support product commercialization from design transfer to manufacturing.
- Assess information to ensure data sufficiency and completeness of results.
- Help write experimental protocols, summaries, and reports.
- Source and qualify external vendors, develop specifications, set up supply agreements and establish manufacturing process.
- Work as part of a scientific team and participate in team meetings and initiatives.
- Work in ISO 9001 and 13485 regulated environments.
- Expertise in reagent formulation development in manufacturing environment.
- NGS (Next generation sequencing) experience.
- Normally requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience; may include post-doctoral experience. Alternatively, Masters in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience, or a B.S. in a scientific discipline with a minimum 7-10 years of related experience.
- Experience in a development / manufacturing environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with writing SOPs and Batch records.
- Strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication skills, combined with excellent writing and editing skills.
