Base pay range

$50.00/hr - $55.00/hr
Sheakley is recruiting a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for our esteemed client, one of the nation's leading construction contracting firms, for a construction project in Tucson, AZ.

Compensation Package

$55/HR Local

$50/HR and $125/Day perdiem if over 50 miles from Tuscon, AZ

Client open to paying mobilization costs with national GSA rate of $0.67/Mile

$150/Month project completion bonus

Weekly pay

Staffing Type: 1099

Project Hours/Schedule: M-F, 40 hours, 1st shift

Project approx. Start: Monday 8/12

Project Duration: 12 months, with the potential for a 5-year contract

Scope of Work: Industrial Hygiene

  • This person will be on a government/military base and will be in charge of maintaining day to day operations of the facility
  • Will be conducting health risk assessments, monitoring indoor air quality, environmental sampling and ergonomics
  • Laser safety assessments and inventory.
  • Electromagnetic radiation assessments.
  • Eyewash evaluations and risk assessments.
  • Must provide experience in hazardous communication, chemical storage, spill response, lockout/tagout, asbestos, hazardous waste accumulation, confined space, ergonomic, and PPE training.
  • Contractor Certification Requirements**: EM-385 with 7+ years of EH&S experience.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • We are conducting project safety inspections and orientations.
  • Safety training as requested/required.
  • Observation and monitoring of worksite employees and safety practices.
  • Complete document reviews, contractor correspondence, and document management.

Qualifications

The role entails various tasks and activities within the realm of the EHS profession, all of which should be within the manager's skills, abilities, certifications, and authorizations. This includes conducting project safety inspections and orientations, safety training as requested/required, observation and monitoring of worksite employees and safety practices, and completing document reviews, contractor correspondence, and document management.Qualifications/Education/ Experience:

For this role, we require a candidate with a strong background in construction health and safety training and consultation. Three to five years of related experience is a must, ensuring that the candidate is well-versed in the field and can handle the responsibilities effectively.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of EHS and industry regulatory standards in construction, with the ability to communicate such standards to others.
  • 3-5 years of construction safety and health experience.
  • Excellent public speaking abilities.
  • Energetic, ambitious, assertive, and an excellent communicator.
  • OSHA outreach training experience preferred.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work independently without direct supervision and in a team environment.
  • OSHA and regulatory safety training experience.

Skills, Specialized Knowledge, And Abilities

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Outgoing personality, self-motivated
  • Excellent customer service, telephone, electronic, and written communication skills. Analyze and recommend improvements for safe work practices, policies, and training programs.
  • Technical experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • Organization, attention to detail, flexibility, and a solid multitasking ability are essential for interfacing with multiple client situations on any workday.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision. Must embrace a team-based, initiative-driven environment.
  • Effectively work with others to build consensus and rapport.
  • Work conditions are typically in warehouses, clinical settings, manufacturing facilities, construction projects, and fields. Responding to emergencies or non-emergencies may require working after hours and occasional weekends.
