Role Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) Location Moanalua Rd Aiea, HI 96701 (Onsite) Duration 12 months (Possible Temp – Permanent) Shift Schedule- M- F On-site 40 hrs with OT available some weekends of OT may be required Pay Range $50 – $52.88 per hour on W2 without any benefits.

Responsibilities
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for directing and managing occupational safety, health and industrial hygiene functions within the Red Hill Program.
The SSHO must implement a safety program that ensures full compliance that meets the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.
Provides Safety oversight that includes a minimum of one Competent Person at the project site to function as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO).
The SSHO or an equally qualified Designated Representative/alternate shall always be on-site when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government.
The SSHO reports directly to the Program Manager/Site Manager and indirectly to Corporate Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) Director. Responsible for overseeing and reporting safety performance metrics to ensure industry and corporate safety goals and objectives are met.
Promote safety culture and policies by training the workforce in safety principles and
Plans, coordinates, administers, and oversees all Safety and Health Program activity carried out by Corporate
Conducts facility surveys (staff assistance visits and audits) to evaluate the effectiveness of local programs and identify areas of nonconformance or potential liability for the program. Assists project management in developing and implementing Action Plans, leading to successful mitigation or elimination of adversities. Conducts follow-on monitoring to keep senior management informed of progress and attainment of desired
Provides professional guidance and advice regarding conformance with current and anticipated worker protection and safety standards. Reviews current and updated worker protection laws, standards, and regulations and identifies requirement changes to management. Develops and implements programs to address new requirements and
Sponsors and facilitates Corporate-directed ESH
Reviews data and provides reports for monthly ESH metrics, as well as reports for the Quarterly Progress
Coordinates, and has oversight responsibility for, the conduct of the Occupational Health Program. Reviews job requirements and identifies to management those work processes with known inherent occupational exposures that can adversely impact an employee’s
Compiles and analyzes accident, injury, and property loss data to identify root-cause relationships and trends that can adversely impact workers’ compensation costs. Assists management with formulating Corrective Action Plans to reduce incidents and lower insurance-related
Reviews operational plans and specifications for project start-ups or close-outs to ensure that appropriate safety and health considerations are addressed, and the requirements are carried
Develops and supports achievement of performance metrics for the corporate
Performs other duties and assignments
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, 4+ years. Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity. Contributes to team objectives and outcomes.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
EM-385 Certification
Safety and Health Degree preferred
Experience
The SSHO shall have completed three (3) years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past or three (3) years’ experience if they possess a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety and health degree.
The SSHO shall have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent and maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and health related coursework every four years. The SSHO shall not be the same person as the project manager.
The SSHO must meet the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project. Provide a Safety oversight team that includes a minimum of one Competent Person at the project site to function as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO).
The SSHO or an equally qualified Designated Representative/alternate shall be on-site at all times when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government.
The Contractor shall provide a SSHO whose primary duty and responsibility is to prepare and enforce the Contractor’s safety program on this contract.
