Location
This position can be based out of one of our Kiewit office locations: Lenexa/Kansas City Kansas, Bloomington Minnesota, Atlanta Georgia, or Dallas/Fortworth Texas. For individuals not located in Kansas, significant travel may be required to our Kansas location to our KIWE headquarters. Opportunities for flexible work are available and we offer relocation.

Responsibilities
- Lead and prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, design schematics, calculations and conceptual designs; utilizing standard methods and project principles.
- Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects.
- Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners. Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award.
- Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans.
- Perform ETP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies and grounding integrity
- Utilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
- Work independently on small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our Clients the industry’s best of both engineering and physical design.
- Support RFP, Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university and EIT license is required
- At least 7 years’ experience performing Electrical engineering design for Industrial facilities (which could include Chemical plants, Mining/Mineral Processing, Power, Water/Wastewater, Processing plants, Advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, EV Battery)
- Experience with ETAP simulation/analysis is required (or similar software)
- Experience with SmartPlant, or similar software for design
- PE preferred, or PE eligible and willingness to obtain within one year
- Experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progression
- Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable
- Regular, reliable attendance
- Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
- May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
