SAGANA is excited to introduce its newest portfolio company, Pack2Earth. The investment by Mondelēz International, through its impact investing platform Sustainable Futures, was supported by Sagana. The company has raised a total of USD 1.08m (EUR 1m) in its 2023 seed round, which will allow it to complete client pilot projects and start to grow revenues.  Based in Barcelona, Pack2Earth specializes in innovative, sustainable materials for the packaging sector and other uses. The advanced biomaterials startup has developed robust food-grade materials that compost quickly at ambient temperature whenever they end their lifecycle. This also helps reduce the use of petroleum-based plastics.  Sustainable Futures, Mondelez International’s impact investing platform, seeks to incubate, finance, and support self-sustaining ventures and impact funds that address key global challenges. This investment in Pack2Earth advances Sustainable Futures’ efforts to build a circular economy. By 2028, the company is committed to replacing 60 thousand tons of plastic with sustainable bio-based packaging materials.
