To mark the #SDGSummit this week in New York, FBA is joining with allies from around the world to launch a landmark report on customary and #informaljustice and #SDG16+. "Diverse pathways to people-centred justice", a joint publication of the Working Group on Customary and Informal Justice (CIJ) and SDG16+, represents a new consensus among justice stakeholders that CIJ systems must be at the centre of efforts to deliver on the promise of #justiceforall by #2030, in line with the #GlobalGoals. As the report highlights, taking local & informal justice systems into account is especially important when promoting the rule of law and improving access to justice in fragile and conflict-affected areas. Understanding and, where appropriate, engaging with customary and informal justice providers can be instrumental in addressing grievances, promoting gender equality and human rights, as well as contributing to conflict prevention.
