Cathay Group has placed a firm order with Airbus for 30 A330-900 widebody aircraft. The order follows a thorough evaluation by the airline under its mid-size widebody fleet renewal programme. The newly-ordered aircraft will enable Cathay to modernise its earlier generation A330-300 fleet and expand its operations on high capacity regional routes. The aircraft will also offer flexibility to serve longer range destinations. As with all A330neo aircraft, the fleet will be powered by the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. With KM Malta Airlines, the newly founded national airline of the Maltese Islands, Lufthansa Technik welcomes another customer for LEAP-1A services. Over the next 9.5 years, the MRO provider will perform the repair and overhaul of this engine type operated by the Maltese airline on its Airbus A320neo fleet. Lufthansa Technik is currently undertaking two quick turns for KM Malta Airlines. Since the LEAP-1A engines are still at the beginning of their life cycle and most do not yet require an overhaul, so-called quick turns are performed. New Airbus A320neo integrated the Azores Airlines fleet

Austrian Airlines announced last week that they will wet-lease two ATR72-600 regional turboprop aircraft from BRA - Braathens Regional Airlines to serve some of their short-haul Routes where their own Embraer Regional jets are too big. Currently, there are 430 active ATR72-600, with another 165 inactive (Maintenance & Stored). The largest fleet is based in Asia (253), followed by Europe at 134. The largest operator is WINGS AIR in Indonesia, followed by IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) in India. Last year, 25 new ATR72-600 were delivered.
