🎓 Excited to share that it's been a month since I embarked on my Masters journey in Business Analytics at DePaul University! 🚀 Reflecting on this whirlwind month, I've had the privilege to dive into a plethora of enriching experiences: networking events, career conferences, coaching sessions, and engaging activities galore. 🌟 Transitioning to a new culture and managing everything independently has been incredibly challenging, but the lessons learned have been invaluable. Here are a few key takeaways: 1️⃣ Cultural Adaptability: Embracing a new culture isn't just about understanding customs and traditions—it's about being open-minded, adaptable, and respectful. Each interaction has been an opportunity to learn and grow, broadening my perspectives in ways I never imagined. 2️⃣ Building Bridges: Making new friends in a new environment requires courage, empathy, and genuine interest. From coffee chats to group study sessions, every connection has taught me the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and forging meaningful relationships. 3️⃣ Independence & Resilience: Managing life away from family has underscored the significance of independence and resilience. From navigating daily chores to tackling academic challenges, every hurdle has been a chance to hone my problem-solving skills and foster self-reliance. As I continue this journey, I'm grateful for the opportunities, the friendships forged, and the invaluable lessons learned along the way. Here's to embracing every moment and seizing the endless possibilities that lie ahead! 🌟 #MastersJourney #NewBeginnings #EmbraceChallenges

Jemena, what a fantastic 2 year graduate program it was 🎓 Rotating through 5 different teams has given me incredible opportunities and unmatched exposure to the business of which I cannot be prouder. Special thanks to my rotation managers Alain Tamara, James Osborne, Kiera Poustie, Thuc Vu and D'Agostini Paul for their support and guidance as they, along with their teams took substantial time to show me how their business areas work and allowed me to be heavily involved in the day to day. Their knowledge shows me the business is in very competent hands. The graduate opportunities provided by the learning and development team were fantastic, thanks to André Gomez and Brett Watson for getting us to do 👉 3 presentations, some 30 minutes long with 20 minutes of questions 👉 1 shark tank business pitch 👉 5 workshops on everything from speech writing, to networking and personal brand A special shoutout to the many graduates I have worked with along the way. I’ll share some of my highlights from the program; Business Performance: o Executed accurate and timely financial statements, with monthly reporting and meetings across the business. o Analyzed variances and trends for effective reporting. o Developed communication skills with senior management and stakeholders. Jemena Networks: o Gained a deeper understanding of the regulatory framework. o Explored network operations, maintenance, and capital expenditure planning. o Delved into investment decisions and operational processes. o Visited Sydney office overseeing 1.4M gas customers' planning and operations. Strategy: o Collaborated on board papers, refining strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. o Compiled complex information and presented it concisely. Corporate Finance: o Explored tax compliance and planning. o Assisted cash flow forecasting, liquidity and got to observe large public bond issues. o Conducted financial modelling and scenario analysis for projects. Zinfra: o Immersed in physical projects, gaining insights into cost flow and project lifecycles. o Acquired valuable exposure to project performance drivers and management of project finances. I’m excited to see where my Career at Jemena takes me!
Celebrating our graduating class of 2023! Late last year, seven of our team successfully completed our graduate program, after navigating four semesters, three group presentations and one shark tank experience. Pictured are the Melbourne cohort with their managers at a celebratory lunch. We're proud to see their growth over the last two years and are delighted to see the space they have carved out for themselves in the business, with many having multiple offers at the end of their rotations. Well done to all our graduating graduates – we can’t wait to see what you achieve next while innovating towards a sustainable energy future!

"Coming into my interview with Vistria, I was thoughtful about being authentic. It makes the job easier when you’re able to always be yourself. It’s easy to feel like you should adjust yourself to fit into a role or a stereotype of a role, but that’s not a successful long-term strategy," was Sara Woolbright's advice to future PE leaders in the latest issue of Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management's magazine. Having just wrapped up my (almost) last (and best) course of the year—Financing the Entrepreneurial Business by Luisa Alemany and Gary Dushnitsky—I'm still buzzing with excitement. The fireside chat with Sarah Friar, where, amongst many things, she talked about purpose, impact, values and paving your own path to success, was incredibly inspiring—and the perfect culmination to the first-half of my London Business School MBA journey. I also ran (on purpose) into the founder of Treasure Tress, Jamelia Donaldson, whom I'd studied in a marketing case the term prior, as she gave a guest lecture to another class, which added another layer of awesome to this incredible year. "How's it been so far?” I’ve been asked this question about the MBA often lately, and my answer is: it’s been joyful. At my core lies an insatiable academic curiosity. I'm constantly driven to understand the 'how', 'why', and 'why not' of things. The artist in me loves to take in the world much like in John Berger’s Ways of Seeing. My first year at LBS has tremendously expanded this curiosity. Engaging with peers from all of the many other programs—Sloan, EMBA, MIF, MAM, and MIM—and other universities and professional circles, has been incredibly enriching. In this transitory moment, as many peers reflect on their impending graduation and future plans, I've gotten to have deep, authentic discussions and hear beautiful reflections. Reflecting on my own journey: I sought change and challenge coming in; I've gotten exactly that, and then some. This year has been a whirlwind of affirmation, growth and expansion, marked by remarkable people and experiences. I’ve gotten to engage in everything from pro bono consulting, to impact investing, to winning business competitions, to participating in and planning more conferences and club events than I ever expected to (Tax Bootcamp Conference is happening in 2 days by the way! https://lnkd.in/ezcaHS7z), to applying classroom theories in real time to real-world settings in my business and remote work, which has been immensely fulfilling. Somehow, admist all this, I've gotten to nurture growing friendships and foster a network of incredibly inspiring individuals, making this year not only productive but also deeply rewarding. As I look forward to my internship with Talent Spaces and other mentorship opportunities this summer, I can't help but feel deeply grateful for every moment of this journey. Though by all accounts I should be feeling oversaturated after such a packed year, I find myself eager and excited for another year of great opportunities and learning. With another year (407 days, actually) to go, I'm ready to dive back full steam ahead into this adventure and savour all that it has to offer. Congratulations to everyone graduating this year, and cheers to another year of learning and growth to all the 25s! And a huge thank you to the Laidlaw Foundation for this amazing opportunity.
