At Zinfra, safety is everyone’s business. During National Safe Work Month, our people answered the question, ‘what does good safety looks like?’. Check out what Zinfra’s very own Craig Farrugia, Mollie Swavley, Travis Clarke and Daniel Saunders had to say about what good safety looks like to them. This National Safe Work Month and every month, we’re always looking to gain a better understanding of the challenges and the risks our people face, and what we can all personally do to build a safer working environment. “Strong mentors and work mates, keeping an eye out for our people.” That’s what Craig Booth, Zinfra Overhead Manager, Distribution, says about how we as a business can keep our apprentices safe. It’s one of the key safety messages he shared with us during National Safe Work Month, including his thoughts on good safety leadership, the best way to communicate safety messages to his team, and the basic safety principle he feels everyone should know. Safety leadership, communication and learning are some of the key focuses of Zinfra’s Health and Safety Strategy. You can find out more about our strategy here: https://lnkd.in/guCWTAGH

We are so proud to have been awarded a bronze rating from the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) for our work constructing Jemena's Malabar Biomethane Injection Plant. This is the first energy project in Australia and the first project in NSW that has been certified under the IS Essentials Pilot Rating Scheme and is an acknowledgement of Zinfra’s capability to meet ISC sustainability criteria for construction projects. Zinfra Managing Director, Peter Iancov, said the recognition highlights the capabilities of the Zinfra team, who are well-placed to develop new energy systems and infrastructure as part of the transition to a sustainable future. “The Malabar Biomethane Injection Plant has set the benchmark for building and operating sustainable energy assets in Australia. Not only did we construct the plant, we also upskilled our teams to operate and maintain this new asset to allow us to effectively support Jemena fulfil its future energy transition ambitions safely and efficiently,” Peter said. “Make sure you look out for everyone… so that everyone can go home safely.” That’s the advice Jake Newnham, a second year Zinfra Distribution Lineworker apprentice has about managing safety risks. During National Safe Work Month, we’re asking our team members ‘what safety means to them?’ because when it comes to safety first, we are all accountable. Our Field teams have shared the importance of holding each other accountable for: 👷♂️ Always wearing PPE 🖐️ Raising concerns 🤝 Collaborating on solutions 👊 Looking out for each other. At Zinfra, when it comes to safety, it is everyone’s business. Our approach to keeping people safe is guided by our Health and Safety Strategy 2025-2028, learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gT8Z2aDx

At Zinfra, safety comes first! That’s why our annual Safety Field Panel is run each year during National Safe Work Month, to help us better understand the challenges and the risks our teams face. This year our panelist discussed the critical risks they face in their day-to-day work, how they identify them and how to avoid injury or grave damage to our business operation. It was an honest and open panel, with people sharing personal stories of injures either experienced or witnessed and a look at the physical and psychological impact they can have. This was our seventh Field Panel and a sobering reminder that when it comes to safety, it is everyone’s business. We know our field members are best placed to tell us what they need to ensure their workplace is safe and our Field Panel is crucial in understanding and hearing them.
