Collaboration and investment are paramount to unlock the full potential of carbon capture in industrial decarbonization. We are thrilled to spotlight two groundbreaking projects announced with our partners RTI International and TDA Research and supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Together, these projects aim to prove the capability of two brand-new technologies and economically capture 278,000 metric tons of CO2 annually (equivalent to offsetting emissions from 52,000 gasoline-powered cars).
One of the projects leverages innovative nonaqueous solvent (NAS) technology in the paper industry sector at International Paper’s Vicksburg Containerboard Mill. This collaboration between RTI International, International Paper, SLB, and Amazon represents a significant step toward large-scale carbon capture.
In the power sector, as part of our partnership with TDA Inc., we will test an emerging sorbent technology at the Wyoming Integrated Test Center adjacent to Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s Dry Fork Station. This project aims to refine carbon capture systems for the energy industry, marking a critical advancement in our decarbonization technology de-risking efforts.
Together with our partners, we’re making strides in delivering effective solutions for industrial decarbonization. I am confident that we are on the right track to making a material impact on industrial emissions through technology.
