🌿✨ Purposefully Rehoming Textiles: Why Op-Shops Aren't Always the Answer ✨🌿 Donating to op-shops is undeniably noble, breathing new life into your unused items while supporting charitable causes. However, to maximise the impact of your generosity, we encourage you to exercise discernment in both your choices and the destinations of your donations. Op-shops, despite their benevolent mission, face an overwhelming influx of items. Astonishingly, only about 16% of received donations make it to the shop floor. The rest? They become rags, are consumed for energy production, or heartbreakingly end up in landfills. Consider a more strategic approach. We propose deliberate sorting and channelling of donations to specialised organisations. This method ensures your contributions resonate profoundly with those in need and align effectively with their requirements. Imagine sports gear finding new purpose through “Boots for All,” work attire empowering individuals through “Fitted for Work” or “Dress for Success,” children’s clothing supporting families via “3081 Angels,” baby wear reaching “Little Angels," and fabric and craft offering creativity with the help of "Creative Community Space". By fragmenting your contributions and directing them toward dedicated entities, you create a transformative narrative. This strategic dissemination stands as a beacon of efficacy, ensuring that those seeking specific items and those in genuine need are harmoniously aligned. Your thoughtful act, in this paradigm, becomes not just an act of giving but a conduit for meaningful change. 🎁 DAY 21: ECO30 Sustainable Living - Declutter and Donate Unused Materials 🌿 "#Decluttering your home is not only a practical way to organize your living space but also an opportunity to give back to those in need and promote #sustainable #consumption." Today's challenge encourages us to #declutter and #donate #unused #materials. By donating clothing and unused items, we can extend the lifecycle of these items, reduce waste, and support charitable organizations that provide essential resources to individuals and communities. By #decluttering and #donating items we no longer need or use, we create space for what truly matters and cultivate a sense of simplicity and balance in our lives. Take the challenge: Set aside time to declutter your home, focusing on areas where excess clutter tends to accumulate, such as closets, drawers, and storage spaces. Clearing out unnecessary items can bring a sense of calm and organization to your living space. Sort and organize donated items into separate categories, ensuring they are #clean, #sorted, and ready for #donation. Making the donation process as smooth as possible ensures that your contributions can benefit those in need more effectively. Gather items in good condition but no longer serving you and donate them to households, local charities, or community organizations that can put them to good use. Your #generosity can make a meaningful difference in someone else's life. Join me in becoming an #ECO30Champion by #decluttering and #donating #unused #materials, and together, let's contribute to positive change in our #communities and #beyond! 🌟🌍

Summer is coming and for many of my clients that means a wardrobe rotation and a round of decluttering and downsizing to make way for a new season. It may surprise you to hear but I’m not an advocate of throwing things away and I very rarely, if ever, encourage clients to do so. So what do I do? Well quite a few things actually. 💛 Encourage clients to donate good condition unwanted items to charity. 💛 Help them initiate contact with antiquities specialists to sell their heirlooms if they’re ready to. 💛 Get them ready to sell items online via apps like Vinted, Ebay and Depop. 💛 Help show them fun and unique ways to upcycle existing items to be repurposed into something completely new. It always surprises people the effort I go to in keeping my business sustainable but I think it’s such an important value here at Clean Slate and I’ll always work to find alternative avenues of repurposing, donating and upcycling to save something from the landfill. Do you and your company value sustainability? Would love to hear your thoughts and how you tackle sustainability at home and at work! #sustainability #donation #homeorganiser #professionalorganiser #decluttering

Who are we? What do we do? Who do we help? These are all valid questions, but here's a quick answer to all of them. Who are are? @ Fundraise & Recycle is a North-East based recycling company that uses innovative recycling methods to create multiple sources of income for the organisations it works with. What do we do? We provide clothes banks, home collection services, and other initiatives to organisations looking to create a sustainable and long term way to fundraise. Who do we help? We work with schools, community centres, charities, businesses, care homes and other settings as long as they're engaged in the fundraising and recycling process. Have any other questions about what we do at F&R? Happy to answer them! #whoarewe #whatdowedo #whodowehelp
