Good job, ad market: U.S. advertising employment ended 2023 at an all-time high. Employment in the ad business--defined here by the Bureau of Labor Statistics classification of "advertising, public relations and related services"-- came in at 504,600 jobs in December based on seasonally adjusted figures. The ad business has managed to add jobs despite weakness in media employment. Staffing has fallen in two broad BLS media classifications: "media streaming distribution services, social networks, and other media networks and content providers" and "web search portals and all other information services." Today's overall U.S. jobs report was a bit confusing. The headline figure of job growth in December--216,000 jobs--came in above economists' guesses. But BLS downwardly revised the November and October figures. You might want to forget all of the above numbers, though. Effective with the next monthly jobs report on Feb. 2, BLS will do its multi-year revision of employment data back to 2019, reflecting its annual updates of benchmarking and seasonal adjustment factors. The report shows how out of balance advertising is - great advertising Performs, especially when the product does, too. If you're not growing, it's because you're not trying to. #creativity #art #brandisperformance #advertising #marketing #opentoworkadvertising #growthmindset
Ad Age searched ad agency and marketing listings in January for creative jobs in New York across various sites including LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter and Indeed. According to the job openings tracked by Ad Age, there were fewer opportunities in this area at agencies than in some other departments that are high in demand, including performance marketing and commerce.

Any company with data is a publisher, and I won't be surprised where a LOT of companies with latent data stores will start an ad business. === Indeed has long had an ad business that allows companies to buy search ads on Indeed's website. Those ads can now run on publishers' websites that target specific pools of job candidates — like tech workers. The first ad network Indeed is launching is called the Tech Network, which companies can use to place display ads on 50 tech websites — including The Next Web and developer-focused Stack Overflow — that claim to reach more than 500 million monthly visits combined. Job seekers who click on the ads are redirected to Indeed's website to fill out a job application. #adtech #programmatic

I keep waiting for some bad news to report on advertising employment. (Because I still believe that business cycles exist, that recessions happen and that agencies--whose biggest expense is people--sometimes hire and sometimes fire.) But the perplexingly buoyant job market keeps surprising me with good news. So once again, I can report that U.S. ad employment (advertising, public relations and related services) scored a new all-time high, coming in at a record 504,500 jobs in November. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports ad agency employment with a one-month lag. So we learned today from BLS that U.S. ad agency employment (a subset of the above ad employment figure) rose to 237,900 jobs in October, also an all-time high. Job well done, ad market. #advertising #employment

It's not the size of the ad. It's the motion of the ocean. Oh wait, that's the wrong analogy. Hint for your job ads though 👇 EITHER - keep it short, sweet, to the point OR - long story-telling ads #marketing #jobads #recruitment

Interesting chart in here - finally job advertising is BELOW where it was before the pandemic (in terms of job postings), with a big drop at the turn of this year. However, in real time, is this reversing? This is looking back a month or more now..... https://lnkd.in/ea58SQis

Ashley Liddell ran ads to create his dream role at his dream company, instead of applying to jobs! 💭 Here’s how he did it by taking ad-vantage of £150 in free Google Ads spend and a dash of creativity!🤏 When Google granted him £150, he targeted Carrie Rose at Rise at Seven | Search-First Creative Agency with clever search terms and a CV-linked ad. He hooked her attention and two months later, voila, landed the job. 🔗 We call that ad-solutely Brilliant! 🫡 Don’t be afraid to think outside the box to stand out amongst the sea of candidates.
