In an opinion piece, AboitizPower Chief Investment Officer Joseph Lacson used a bell curve to illustrate the gradual adoption of new solutions in the transition from thermal to renewable energy, with the Y-axis representing the level of adoption and the X-axis representing time. Joseph believes that the Philippines is currently in the Early Adopter phase, with promising solutions like wind, hydro, solar, and other renewables showing significant potential. While the shift is on its way, the future of cleaner energy will require significant changes in technology and societal mindset. Policy briefs on Energy Economics from ANU. Their key takeaways: 1 - Australia’s target of 82 per cent renewable energy by 2030 can’t be achieved without short project development lead-times. 2 - Completion times for renewable wind and solar projects have sped up significantly, particularly in South Australia. But it may not be fast enough to meet the national target. 3 - Setting maximum times for approval decisions, and giving developers clearer information, could help speed up the process.

The Future of the Energy Market: A Focus on Renewables The global energy market is set for substantial growth, driven by increasing populations and expanding economies. However, the most significant change lies in the evolving energy mix, which is shifting decisively toward cleaner and more sustainable options. Renewable energy sources—such as solar, wind, and hydropower—are expected to grow rapidly and become the dominant players in the energy sector. While fossil fuels will still contribute to the global energy mix, especially in countries that currently rely heavily on them, their significance is projected to decline over time. This transition marks a critical step toward a more sustainable future, where renewable energy will play a central role in powering our world. The momentum is clear: the energy market is increasingly turning green, and the future belongs to renewables. #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #FutureOfEnergy #DontGetDistracted

Major milestone for the UK's energy transition: At the end of September 2024, the UK officially ceased all coal-fired electricity generation, marking the end of an era that began in 1882. With coal no longer part of the energy mix, the focus now shifts to renewables. This summer brought optimism, with recent policy changes and ambitious targets set to accelerate the renewable energy transition. ⚡🌍 As renewable energy scales up, attention turns to improving grid infrastructure and speeding up planning approvals. Korkia is proud to contribute, with already 10.5GW of solar and storage projects in development. ☀️ Learn more about what’s next for the UK’s energy transition in Peter Bolton’s blog: https://lnkd.in/gS9jvthY #EnergyTransition #Renewables #CleanEnergy #NetZero #PoweringTomorrow

As energy pricing comes under enhanced scrutiny, it is interesting to see Renew Economy highlight three ways regulation favours fossil generation over renewables. Fossil fuel producer subsidies are expected to have increased by 31% this financial year (and exceed $14bn). Meanwhile renewable generators must install expensive harmonic filters on generation projects, and AEMO’s pricing mechanism based on Marginal Loss Factors (MLFs) discriminates against renewables, double counting their generation losses. Policies like these delay the transition to a cheaper and more reliable renewable grid, by artificially undermining the business case for renewables projects while also (as illustrated by Renew Economy) adding billions of dollars of cost to electricity bills. https://lnkd.in/gSAh8_Zm https://lnkd.in/gWXfr47K https://lnkd.in/gUFmawEg #EnergyEquityEnvironment

According to S&P Global Commodity Insights, the cost of clean energy technologies is expected to drop by 15% to 20% by 2030. The report further discusses the vital role of government policies in the transition to clean energy, stating that it is essential to drive investment in innovative technologies as it is predicted that one terawatt of wind and solar capacity will be installed within the next two years. The report shows a positive outlook on the future of clean energy, predicting that investments in renewable technologies will continue to rise in 2024 and beyond, thus leading to a significant increase in the deployment of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.
