Empowering a generation of female leaders and innovators is vital for our vision of a tech-enabled future that advances inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. Today, our partners at Technovation announced The AI Forward Alliance (TAIFA)--a pioneering partnership uniquely designed to provide cutting-edge tech and AI skills and the sole initiative dedicated to equipping and empowering millions of girls and young women worldwide. TAIFA’s network and community partners include UNICEF and the Grameen Foundation, both of which will extend the initiative’s global reach, powering the Alliance towards its long-term goal of seeing six million young women enter the technology workforce by 2030. Girl Geek X Community and the App Inventor Foundation will expand access to mentors, and develop enhanced training materials for educators, respectively. The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation is proud to join Google as TAIFA’s funding partners. My first UNGA is now behind me. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Here’s why: 1. Broadened Horizons: At UNGA, I stepped out of my bubble. I encountered Family Offices, politicians, NY-based artists, and indigenous people from Africa. It's perhaps the only place in the world where one can meet such a diverse group of future impact partners. 2. Encountering Changemakers: In just 5 days, I was privileged to be a guest at events organized by Ford Foundation, CorpsAfrica, PVBLIC Foundation, among others. It's heartening to see that there are many who still care deeply about our world. I'm looking forward to working with them through Tech To The Rescue. 3. Inspiration: While UNGA might not offer an in-depth exploration of all significant social issues, it provides a glimpse into a vast range – from protecting rainforests in Brazil to discussions on the legalisation of psilocybin, and efforts to end TB. 4. Feedback: I shared about TTTR and our initiatives with nearly everyone, garnering much enthusiasm and some valuable critiques. Understanding our place in the world is vital. Evidently, we are on a trajectory to reshape the Tech Industry and its perspective on social impact. It was a long journey to NY, a week without family, battling jetlag, and surviving on little sleep. But I am truly fortunate to have crossed paths with so many incredible individuals. I hope to forge collaborations with many of them in the near future. This past weekend, I learned that I won the #DiversifyNordic “Spark” award for 2023.   Thank you to those who voted for me. While I am grateful for the recognition, I also want to highlight the other individuals and organizations who are doing important work, in the Nordics and beyond, on #diversity, #equity and #inclusion, and #belonging. [#Mentoring] Eramet is proud to participate in the 2024 International Women in Resources Mentoring Programme (#IWRMP). Beyond sponsorship, three of our collaborators are actively engaged as mentors. Over the next six months, they have been paired with mentees who will gain the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the resources sector. Simultaneously, our mentors will learn from their mentees, leading to enriching experiences for all involved.   Since its first edition in 2018, IWRMP has engaged over 400 mentees from more than 40 countries. I am truly honored to be one of the #WINTrainers for the incredible Women Innovators Program supported by Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST). When I was introduced to this program, I didn't hesitate for a second to get involved. As a woman in the tech industry for the past 15 years, I've experienced firsthand the challenges of proving oneself, demonstrating worth, and striving for innovation and recognition. Interestingly, despite the global emphasis on diversity and equity, I've noticed fewer women in managerial roles internationally compared to the patriarchal Armenian society, where women dominate middle management positions. For example, we see more females in project management and agile coaching roles here than men, which is the opposite of the global trend. Attending the opening ceremony on Friday was enlightening. 💥 I learned that Armenia currently boasts more female PhDs in STEM than males and that women are increasingly occupying middle management roles in the tech industry. However, the number of female founders and C-level executives remains low, highlighting untapped potential. Comparing today's opportunities to when I started, it's clear that women now have more chances than ever to step forward. They need to blend their scientific expertise with entrepreneurial skills to launch startups in AI, AgriTech, BioTech/Biology, Engineering, and more. As women, we must balance our feminine energy (more in-house and people-oriented) with masculine energy (more external and task-oriented). I believe programs like this can empower many talented women in STEM to make a global impact through their startups. I'm thrilled to be part of this fantastic program. 🙌 No prosperity without digital inclusion! Everybody deserves to be connected and not to be forgotten. 👉 It's most alarming that 40% of Belgians aged 16 to 74 lack basic #digitalskills. Yet digital inclusion is crucial for everyone—the citizens, our economy, organisations and the government. By 2030, up to 560,000 new jobs will require such skills. We must act now to prevent further digital exclusion. The DigitAll coalition, which we actively support with UQ learn different and ZAIA work different, includes over 120 organisations and is working every day to address this issue. However, progress is fragmented. We need a cohesive strategy, also supported by all levels of government. 🙏Together with 63 other CEOs and ambassadors, I signed DigitAll’s Open Letter and call on future regional and federal governments to join us in this mission by acting on our three recommendations for a digitally inclusive Belgium: 1. Develop a coordinated strategy. 2. Provide structural funding. 3. Work on an inclusive approach. 🤝 We reaffirm our dedication to create a more inclusive digital landscape where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. A comprehensive digital inclusion plan will have our full support. 👇 I invite you to read and share this open letter to help raise awareness and drive structural change.
