As we reflect on March, it’s been a month of both wins and losses: 💥Received Advance Assurance for SEIS and are now ready to receive investment via ASA ahead of our round, which will open later in the year. 💥Submitted 2 funding bids and drafted 2 more, which we’re on track to submit next month.  💥Partnered with Royal Court Theatre on the West End transfer of critically acclaimed theatre show For Black Boys offering hundreds of £10 tix to community members.  💥Secured free offerings for the theatre shows Shifters and Sister Act to our community members 💥Grew our waitlist by 200, we’re now at over 1700+ creative talent  💥Attended the TNB XPO as an official exhibitor, an annual convention showcasing Black excellence within the UK screen industries 💥Nominated for exciting awards (more on this to come…) 🤫 But, we also: 🌪 Experienced product delays which has a knock on effect on our launch timeline  🌪Missed the deadline for a funding opportunity that we wanted to put ourselves forward for 🌪Had to reschedule a shoot due to unforeseen circumstances, which was costly 🌪It’s been a great month for fundraising, but this push has distracted us from the real work of business development So, in the spirit of transparency, we’ll be sharing our monthly W’s and L’s along the way. IMPORTANT LESSON TO BE LEARNED HERE - It's not very often we share videos from the Driving the Lane University of Northern Iowa Basketball show we are part of. However, when there is a lesson to be learned, I don't mind doing so. No matter if you see a successful business or nonprofit (or in this case a basketball team) . . . they had to start from somewhere. Reflecting on the milestones and accomplishments of the past year for St John Ambulance SA Ltd volunteers fills me with immense pride. Together, we've embraced change, navigated transitions, and achieved remarkable feats. Here are some key highlights: 🤝 Successfully transitioned to our new operational structure, embracing functional titles that align with our vision, values and goals. 🎓 Engaging guest speakers, exciting field trips, and a training camp, we dedicated over 16,000 hours to volunteer team training sessions. 📈 Achieved a remarkable 10.6% increase in volunteer engagement at events in less than 10 months. 🛠️ Upgraded all our Response kits, significantly enhancing our operational capabilities and readiness to serve. 💡 Introduced an improved recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring a better experience and stronger support for our valued volunteers. Better known as Project Journey this was a year long project involving multiple departments to reduce red tape, improve training completion rates and re-establish expectations. 👩⚕️ Ensured all active Event Responders upgraded to the new ER22 qualification, further elevating our expertise and preparedness. 🚑 Surpassed the 50% milestone with Event Medics upgrading to the new EM22 qualification 12 months before the deadline. ⏱️ Logged over 26,000 clinical event hours alongside 20,000 hours in administration and crucial roles, demonstrating our volunteers dedication across various essential functions. 🌍 Provided crucial support by volunteers deploying to floods and fires both within South Australia and New South Wales, including supporting relief efforts at the SEICCC center during the Murray River Floods. Thank you to every team member and volunteer who contributed to these achievements, both on the frontline and behind the scenes. Tom Etling, Managing Partner of Etling Strategy Partners (ESP), joins The5 to talk about Brand Strategy Management.  Tom talks about how a nonprofit can and should utilize their brand strategy to maximize their impact on the community.    ESP’s model is the product of more than 25 years of client-side and agency CEO, COO and CMO leadership and learnings from our team.   Prior to founding ESP, Tom Etling was Chief Strategy Officer for Paradigm and previously created the marketing advisory practice at Brown Smith Wallace (now Armanino). From 2015 to 2020, Tom served as Chief Executive Officer and Partner at Dovetail, a St. Louis-based brand communications agency. There, he led brand strategy, stakeholder engagement and issues management for clients in diverse industries such as: healthcare, higher education, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, public sector, tourism and more.   Prior to joining Dovetail, Tom was Chief Executive Officer for St. Patrick Center, one of the country’s leading advocates for ending homelessness. Tom led the creation and implementation of a regional plan that balanced innovative solutions with long-term financial viability. I have really enjoyed the work we have been doing with UK Sport to support some of their leaders, but the design principles and processes are consistent with all of our clients.
