Did you know that over 12 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year? This number is on the rise. It is estimated that by 2030, uncollected plastic waste could reach 730 million metric tons! This is one of the reasons why plastic pollution is one of the greatest threats facing our oceans today. As we celebrate #WorldOceanDay today at Acer, we echo our commitment to creating innovative technology while championing a sustainable future. To further address the plastic waste issue, we have set a clear goal of achieving 20-30% total post-consumer recycled plastic usage by 2025. Through our partnership with @ plasticbank, we are starting small by jointly stopping plastic pollution and ending poverty in collection communities along the coast. Additionally, we use recycled ocean-bound plastic (OBP) and convert it into recyclable materials. Starting from 2021, ocean-bound plastics have been utilized in Acer notebook products to make Ocean Glass touchpads, which are currently used in the Chrome, Swift, Aspire Vero, TravelMate P2, and other product series. We invite you to join us in our mission to protect our planet. By choosing sustainable products and joining conservation initiatives, you can contribute to a cleaner, healthier ocean. 🌍 Today, September 5th, 2024, marks Plastic Overshoot Day—a sobering reminder that the world’s plastic waste now surpasses the Earth's capacity to manage it sustainably. From this day forward, every additional plastic product contributes to irreversible damage to our ecosystems, affecting our oceans, communities, and health. Plastic production is projected to double by 2040, potentially tripling plastic pollution. Although efforts in waste management have made some strides, they are far from enough. We need to question the current systems. Should we continue relying on materials that harm our planet and health, even if recycled? Or should we not focus on regenerative, holistically sustainable alternatives? Germany: Known for its advanced waste management systems, yet, in 2024, Germany is expected to generate over 5 million tons of plastic waste, with 15% of it still being mismanaged. United States: A global leader in waste generation, producing 42 million tons of plastic waste this year, with 22% of this going mismanaged. (Source: EA - Earth Action's Plastic Overshoot Day Report 2024) Even the most resource-rich nations are struggling. The solution requires a global effort focusing on three core areas: Scaling Collaborative Solutions Globally: Governments, businesses, and civil society must come together to advance and scale sustainable plastic alternatives. Shifting to Circular Economies: We must transition from a linear economy to one focused on reuse, repair, and regeneration. Supporting Adaptive, Proactive Policies: We need flexible policy frameworks that empower innovative solutions, especially for entrepreneurs pushing to commercialize sustainable alternatives. Plastic Overshoot Day is a stark reminder that courageous action is asked of every single one of us. Our choices today will determine the future health of our planet. This #WorldEnvironmentDay, we reflect on the vast challenge of tackling plastic pollution and scaling a circular economy. The impact of plastic waste is monumental, but so is our potential to make a difference. 📈 Plastic consumption has increased 4x in the last 30 years, much faster than recycling capacity. 9% is recycled, while 69% is incinerated or landfilled, and 22% is mismanaged (OECD-OCDE). ♻ Transitioning to a circular economy for plastics could reduce plastic waste in the ocean by 80% by 2040. It could also prevent 500 million tonnes of emissions annually, saving over US$4.5 trillion in environmental and social costs up to 2040 (UN Environment Programme). 💰 According to a recent McKinsey & Company study, achieving 20% recycled content for plastic packaging by 2030 globally could require as much as $100 billion cumulatively across collection, sorting, and recycling solutions. At Circulate Capital, we remain dedicated to advancing these solutions, investing in impactful initiatives that will reduce plastic pollution and advance a circular economy in high-growth markets. #CircularEconomy #PlasticPollution #Sustainability

Let's turn waste into treasure! Our environmental innovation that turns waste into valuable resources. This microwave vapor plasma process does not produce NOx, CO, CO2, SO2 gases, plus the emission is odorless
Turning our waste into an energy carrier in microwave steam plasma Waste-to-energy plant a great alternative to reduce the area for waste treatment and disposal, in addition to generating energy for all small cities in the region. A good alternative is to create an intermunicipal cooperative between small cities to share costs, revenues, energy generated and technological knowledge. The conversion of plastic and tire waste into an energy carrier - heating oil, diesel, grill coke, syngas - has become relevant because the production of electricity from waste is slowly being replaced by solar and wind energy, because their operating costs are almost zero. It is a social advantage if small villages are supplied with locally produced energy, thus creating local jobs for the local energy-using population from waste collected locally, small equipment for micro power plants can also be manufactured locally Our innovation in environmental protection is the use of microwave technology The pyrolysis of waste in vapor microwave plasma. The main advantage of steam plasma reactors is that there is no nitrogen in the steam plasma, the plasma reactor, the gasifier and the plasma afterburner chamber, so there is no nitrogen oxides is 40 times more toxic CO, minimum carbon dioxid and odorless the flue gas. The hydrogen introduced into the reaction space with the steam plasma slows down the reactions of gaseous sulphur, phosphorus and free chlorine formation to remove in the gas purification unit. When reacting with chlorine-containing substances, water vapor plasma does not produce dioxin, which is one of the most toxic substances. technology: www.gumienergia.hu

The Plastic Pandemic: A Crisis We Can’t Afford to Ignore Plastic—a material celebrated for its versatility and innovation—has now become one of the greatest environmental threats of our time. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, spanning 1.6 million square kilometers in the North Pacific, is a stark symbol of this crisis. Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter our oceans, rivers, and ecosystems, choking wildlife, contaminating food chains, micro plastics have entered human blood stream and are proliferated in the air we breathe. The statistics paint a grim picture. By 2020, the world had generated 6.3 billion tons of plastic waste. Of this, only 9% had been recycled, 12% incinerated, and the remaining 79% either accumulated in landfills or leaked into the environment. It is projected that by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by weight if current trends continue. . But this crisis is not inevitable. With conscious effort, innovation, and policy change, we can shift the tide. Embracing biodegradable alternatives, Reducing plastic production, improving waste management infrastructure, fostering a circular economy, are all part of the solution. All Organizations have a crucial role to play in mitigating this global threat by integrating plastic reduction into their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. ESG frameworks must include transparent metrics on plastic usage and waste management to drive accountability. Each of us has a role to play in creating a more sustainable future, whether by making conscious choices about the products we use, advocating for stronger policies, or supporting innovative solutions. The plastic crisis is a test of our collective ability to confront environmental challenges – one that we cannot afford to fail.
