ACH Child & Family Services’ Post

Our Pat O'Neal Youth Emergency Shelter on Wichita Street in Fort Worth is one of many #SafePlace sites in North Texas. Let's keep our kids safe and off the streets.

The Supreme Court has made a decision in the case of Grants Pass v. Johnson, which now makes it against the law to sleep in public places like parks or sidewalks. This means that homeless young people, as well as others without a home, could get in trouble with the police just for trying to find a place to sleep. There are about 4.2 million young people in the U.S. who don't have a stable place to live. Decisions like this show why Safe Place is so important. Safe Place helps young people in crisis by giving them a safe place to go and someone to help. If you are a young person in need of shelter or support, you can find the nearest Safe Place by texting "Safe" to 44357 (4HELP). You can also chat with a mental health professional. National Safe Place Network believes every young person should have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing in the community they choose. We will keep pushing for money and support to make sure there's enough housing and help available in every community across the country. #WeAreSafePlace #JohnsonVGrantsPass
