#museums create experiences to share stories and memorable moments. #technology and #ai are there to help, but so is #audiovisual and #augmentedreality . 📼 While that's all good, there's disparity in how and why and the use of how those stories are created. One of the examples of that is in Europe. 🇪🇺 Global views may be held in Western Europe where there is a multicultural influence in those stories. In Central and Eastern Europe, which were under communist rule, the museums typically have a very local and countrywide view held for the past. Of coure, there may be exceptions. Regardless, this view shapes their operations and approach to visitor experiences, and may not allow the museum to reach its full potential. At the end of the day, #heritage is all something we share and take a part in. Organisations like UNESCO protect heritage, but we are still its custodians. MuseumINSIDER is a platform that supports museums to get a global perspective of the sector and a business intelligence platform for suppliers of goods and services to the sector. #aebaden

A detailed analysis of the different responses that museums can offer to the current climate crisis, brilliantly put together by Bridget McKenzie. Wherever you are, whatever you do, there is a place for you in this conversation! What has your response been so far? #climate #museums #climatecrisis
This is an attempt to get an overview of the different ways that museums can respond to the Earth crisis. It’s structured around three pillars: truth-telling, care-taking and change-making. I wanted to use these pillars to focus on museums, rather than culture in general, and to represent what I’ve seen some doing already, rather than to exhort them to start doing these things. In each pillar, there is an essential / expected area of action and an extension that we should start to see more of as the Earth crisis unfolds. #regenerativemuseums #CultureTakesAction #MuseumsForFuture https://lnkd.in/e7B6aRrv

📣 Interesting insights from the 2022 rankings of the world's most-visited museums, shared by Statista and in particular thanks to an article of Florian Zandt. As reported by the Themed Entertainment Association and AECOM, global museum attendance trends especially in the context of the ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic are very insightful. 🖼 The Louvre in Paris retained its position as the most-visited museum, drawing 7.7 million visitors in 2022. This marks a substantial rebound from the pandemic's impact, although it still reflects a 20% decrease from the 9.6 million visitors in 2019. The museum's enduring popularity is largely attributed to its iconic collection, including Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. A notable shift in the 2022 rankings was the absence of four Chinese museums that had been among the top five in 2021. However, the National Museum of Korea in Seoul bucked the trend in the Asia-Pacific region, increasing its attendance by 1.7% compared to 2019. 🗯 And which of these museums have you been to or would you like to visit? Unlocking the Secrets of Cultural Heritage: Why Museums Matter More Than Ever! 🔓🏺 In today’s fast-paced digital world, why do museums still hold a significant place in society? 🤔 Museums are more than just buildings filled with artifacts. They are gateways to understanding our past, reflections of our collective identity, and educational platforms for the future. As a museum professional and cultural enthusiast, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most remarkable collections in India. From ancient manuscripts to tribal artifacts, every piece tells a story—a story that connects us to our roots and teaches us invaluable lessons. Here’s why museums matter more than ever: • Educational Powerhouses: Museums offer an immersive learning experience that textbooks can’t provide. By combining visual, auditory, and sometimes tactile experiences, they make learning engaging and fun! 🎓 • Cultural Guardians: Museums preserve cultural heritage for future generations. They protect our collective memory and ensure that the rich tapestry of human culture is not lost to time. 🛡️ • Community Builders: Museums serve as community hubs where people can come together to explore, learn, and share. They foster a sense of belonging and pride in our heritage. 🏛️ So next time you pass by a museum, step in. You might just find a piece of yourself there. 🌍 Let’s celebrate our cultural treasures together! #CulturalHeritage #MuseumsMatter #Preservation #HistoryLovers #HeritageConservation #MuseumLife #CulturalEducation #Storytelling #HistoryIsAlive #ArtAndCulture
