At Adapture Renewables we’ve integrated sheep into two of our solar projects in Texas. Recently, our sheep grazing partner JR Howard spoke on the Clean Power Hour podcast about his work with us, the growing solar grazing industry, its benefits and challenges, and the intersection of agriculture and solar energy. Tune in below for a listen. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/eu9PePKi #farming #solargrazing #renewableenergy

The solar grazing craze has officially hit the Clean Power Hour! Check out my interview with JR Howard, owner of Texas Solar Sheep. Howard shares insights on the rapidly growing field of solar grazing (a branch of #agrivoltaics) -Texas Solar Sheep now manages over 5 gigawatts of solar sites with 10,000+ sheep -Solar grazing can reduce vegetation management costs by up to 25% for asset owners -The industry faces challenges in scaling up sheep supply to meet growing demand -Developers are increasingly designing solar sites to be "grazing-friendly" -There's now a certification program for solar grazers Howard sees tremendous opportunity for ranchers to expand their operations through solar grazing partnerships. With Texas now outpacing California in new solar installations, this could be a game-changer for the sheep industry. Kudos to innovative companies like Texas Solar Sheep that are finding creative ways to make solar more cost-effective and sustainable. The future looks bright for solar + agriculture! Let's grow #agrivoltaics and dual-use solar #SolarEnergy #Agrivoltaics #CleanEnergy #Sustainability https://lnkd.in/gqpqiSv6

Have you heard of 'agrovoltaics'? If not, let me share what this is all about. #Agrovoltaics involves #agricultural production occurring underneath or adjacent to #solar panels. Projects are springing up in lots of places seeking to optimise the benefits of such multi-use land. Here's a story about #SiliconRanch, who have co-located #sheep with their solar panels. What do people think about this type of #project? https://lnkd.in/eh6m3aKT

We have regrettably taken the decision to cancel our Energy Update event which had been due to take place on April 16. However, for members interested in getting energy advice for their agricultural business, The CLA is hosting a webinar on the same day, specifically focussing on the valuable benefits of the Energy Intensive Industries (EII) Renewables Levy Exemption Scheme. Full details can be found below. #ruralbusiness #agriculture #energy #energymanagement #renewableenergy
Next week - join the CLA Energy Services webinar for advice for your agricultural business. 🌾 On Tuesday 16 April, members can join our free, one-hour webinar with Adam Holt from CLA Energy Services and guest speaker Zac Crossland, Associate Director (Energy) at Leyton, as they unravel the complexities surrounding the EII Renewables Levy Exemption Scheme and its direct implications for the agricultural community. Make sure your farming enterprise is up to speed. Register your place to learn more and take part in the conversation next week: https://lnkd.in/enWjGZ3Q #farming #energymarket

Solar panels and fish farms working together? It’s called Aquavoltaics, and it’s more than just a clever space-saving idea. The panels not only generate clean energy but also provide shade that benefits the fish below, creating a mutually beneficial setup. This synergy could redefine how we approach renewable energy in agriculture. Curious about the details? Check out the article to see how these two systems complement each other in surprising ways. https://lnkd.in/eJJz4g2C #solar #solarenergy #solarpower #solarpv #solarpanels #renewableenergy #electricity #solarfeed

The presence of utility scale solar on agricultural land is a major point of focus for legislators and communities. Regenerative Energy practices present an opportunity to produce renewable energy, promote soil health, and protect productive land. This article does a great job of demonstrating how this can be accomplished at scale! https://lnkd.in/eUKrXDey

I think that this is interesting and the word agrivoltaics is one that I've been hearing of more and more; especially with flexible solar cells (like those from Ascent Solar and Shannon OReilly). Projects like the one below detailed by Jake Bolster signify the joining of ag, power, decarburization, steel, poser grid, batteries, control panels, water management in arid climates, and tax incentives. It's a complex, but winning Venn diagram. I can only imagine that as more DOE pilot projects take shape and costs come down, opportunity will grow. I see this focusing on high value ag first in a way that allows for duel use of land. I would imagine that this will spur secondary business models as well as installation and expertise will need to follow 'the sun'. #solarenergy #agriculture #agrivoltaics https://lnkd.in/dvV8PPRK

Permission has been granted on appeal for a large-scale solar farm on productive agricultural land in Uttlesford District. In determining the planning balance, the question of need for renewable energy development was an important consideration. The decision raises important questions about the state of policy and guidance on this important form of energy generation. Read our full case update and appeal decision here: https://lnkd.in/eQbtNFMh Harriet Townsend and Olivia Davies acted for Uttlesford District Council, instructed by Maria Shoesmith. #Planning #RenewableEnergy #Solar #SustainableDevelopment #Climate
