Counseling Psychologist | Writer | Podcaster | Therapist for Therapists. Transforming "neurotic misery into ordinary unhappiness" since 2019.
There are 2 types of therapists in the world: 1. those who have never worked with a suicidal client, and everyday they walk around with fingers crossed, that today won't be that day. 2. those who have worked with suicidal clients but after these sessions, they feel ill-equipped, inadequate and unprepared to deal with suicidality in therapy. I don't know which one you are but I can promise you that you will benefit from attending the upcoming therapists workshop on Suicide in Therapy. We will talk about how to work with suicidal clients and how to take care of yourself if your client dies by suicide. Sign up here: https://lu.ma/1bmxsl4j Tell a therapist friend!

We forget to practice self-care sometimes too. 🤗 Sometimes we forget and sometimes we make other choices rather than practicing self-care. On a particularly hard day recently, I made the decision to throw a pity party for myself rather than meditate or utilize another self-care practice. 🤗 Therapists are human too and we don’t make “the right” choices every single time. 🤗 Therapists: How’s your self-care looking these days? How could you recommit to tuning into your needs? 🤗 Clients: What’s it like to know your therapist doesn’t practice self-care perfectly? 🤗

It's important to remember that your therapist is there to help you, and they can only do that if you are open and honest with them. Sharing your thoughts and feelings, even the difficult ones, can lead to breakthroughs in your therapy and ultimately help you work through whatever challenges you may be facing. Trust in the therapeutic process and know that your therapist is there to support you every step of the way. #AlverdiaHealth #HonestyInTherapy #TherapyJourney #OpenCommunication #MentalHealthMatters #TherapeuticHonesty #HealingProcess #mentalhealthdoctor
