Samuel Oluwatoye (thank you!) sent parts of the transcript of this speech and I had to go and find the full video. The 2024 Commencement Address by Roger Federer at Dartmouth was such an inspiring speech. The lessons are profound, and universally relatable. Some of the lessons I took from this are: 1. Only hard work can make work look effortless - Effortless is a myth. 2. Never dwell on past victories or failures. Celebrate or cry if you need to; what's done is done - It's just a point. 3. There is a whole world out there, life does not start and end in that arena (office, school, church, etc) build meaningful relationships and live a life that you are proud of - Life is bigger than a court. What are your key takeaways? Watch it here (feel free to start at 5:40mins) - https://lnkd.in/dNwVk4ig #tennislessons #lifelessons

Question: If we have enough talent in Australia for five teams why are our super rugby teams signing so many NZ and overseas players this year and still losing local talent to Japan, MLR, France, and the UK? They are all doing it and it doesn’t make sense if the argument is we have enough talent to sustain five competitive teams. Clearly we don’t if we are resorting to signing overseas players at the levels we are seeing across all the franchises. Combined across all teams we must now be close to a full 1st XV of overseas players.
📣 New Signing Announcement! 📣 We're thrilled to welcome former Māori All Blacks lock, Tom Franklin to the 2024 Western Force Squad! Read more below 👇 https://lnkd.in/g6m8Q7bR

Sharing another in possession clip from our u13s with our principle: Find the Free Player Our game idea is to go: 1. Forward first 2. Sideways second 3. Turn third We want to exploit the space behind, between or beneath the opponent lines, in this order. Whichever provides us the highest benefit. In this clip, we are able to draw the opponent towards the ball. Our center back creates depth through her positioning, which allows her time and space. Off the ball, our forward guarantees depth on the opponent defensive line, which allows our attacking midfielder to support between opponent lines. These are fundamentals we ask of individual positions. With this understanding, our center back is able to effectively communicate with our attacking midfielder by perceiving the space behind the opponent midfield line. Ultimately, she is able execute the clipped pass. Ideally, we progress centrally from here, but the understanding of this is the most dangerous space we can currently exploit with the highest benefit is our starting point!

This week, our Steel United teams are focusing on the core value of integrity and how it translates on the soccer field, especially when it comes to our National Curriculum principle which for the second week is defending! Developing strong defensive skills requires dedication, hard work, and a commitment to fair play. Here are some ways we will integrate integrity into this week's practices: ⚽️ Focus on Soccer IQ: Through reading the game the best defenders anticipate and intercept the ball without having to make a tackle. ⚽️ Emphasize respect: Encourage sportsmanship by calling out fouls and praising clean tackles. ⚽️ Lead by example: Be a role model for respectful behavior towards opponents, referees, and teammates. By fostering a culture of integrity, we’re not just building better defenders, we’re creating well-rounded athletes who value honesty, respect, and responsibility. #NationalCurriuclum #principleofplay #defending #integrity #corevalues

This triumph is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of never giving up, even when the odds seem stacked against you. 🏉💪 The amount of stick directed at the players of late, the board, the coaching staff in fact everyone but the mascot, the lads turned out and showed up! Elcons Employment Law Consultants Limited are proud of you! lessons learned on the rugby field resonate deeply in the business world.
