WHY NATIONAL HOSPITAL WEEK IS IMPORTANT 💙 To show appreciation This week is celebrated to show that we are grateful for the work of healthcare providers and hospitals. A simple word of thanks goes a long way. 💙 Healthcare providers save lives Healthcare is one of the most important professions in the world because they help preserve human life. Their contributions must be recognized. 💙 To spread positivity Sending thank-you notes and showing support helps spread positive energy. It shows that we are empathetic and care about other people’s contributions. HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL HOSPITAL WEEK ❤️ Write a note of appreciation Receiving a handwritten note of appreciation can add that little personal touch. You can write a note to a specific health care provider or send a card to an entire department at the hospital. ❤️ Spread awareness Make sure the people around you are aware of this week and use this opportunity to appreciate the hospitals near them. ❤️ Volunteer Small local hospitals are constantly understaffed and might need your help. I hope the communities that rely on the hospitals in this list confront these circumstances with a forward-thinking, innovative approach that will allow them come out on top in the long-run. Effective marketing and messaging can play a crucial role in addressing the challenges these rural hospitals often face. Here are just 2 ways marketing & messaging can help: 1. Community Engagement Campaigns: Rural hospitals can leverage marketing strategies to engage with their local communities and foster a sense of ownership and support. By communicating the hospital's value, services, and impact on community health, hospitals can rally community members to advocate for the hospital's sustainability. 2. Recruitment and Retention Initiatives: Marketing efforts can also be directed towards attracting and retaining healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, in rural hospital settings. By highlighting the unique opportunities, benefits, and quality of life aspects of working in a rural healthcare setting, hospitals can appeal to potential candidates. Additionally, showcasing ongoing professional development opportunities, career advancement pathways, and a supportive work environment can help in retaining existing staff members and reducing turnover rates. When rural hospitals close, the entire surrounding community feels the effects. Care is harder to access and the health of the surrounding population suffers as well. Mass General Brigham has withdrawn its physicians from Steward Health Care's Holy Family Hospital campuses in Haverhill and Methuen, Massachusetts.   The decision, communicated via email to staff, cites concerns about patient safety standards at the hospital. The results of this study will provide rural hospital leaders a better understanding of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on rural hospital operational and financial performance. One-third of Missouri’s rural hospitals at risk of closure, new data shows One-third of Missouri’s rural hospitals are at risk of closing, according to a report using newly-updated federal data. A July report from the Center for Healthcare Quality and Payment Reform, a national policy group, found that 19 of Missouri’s 57 rural hospitals are at risk of shuttering because of “serious financial problems.” Many of those hospitals at risk of closure could sustain themselves financially for six to seven years, according to the report. Eight rural hospitals, however, are in particularly dire straits, according to the report, and are at risk of “immediate closure” — meaning they are at risk of closing in the next two to three years. That is up from only two rural hospitals at risk of immediate closure in the previous year’s report. Read more in below 8/1/1023 link.
