Exceptional industrial assets of the UK’s Great South West makes this region a key player to respond world's most crucial challenges. This was the message shared with the UK Minister of State for Industry: We were pleased to attend the Great South West Annual Conference, a major event highlighting how the region can support the new GOV.UK government’s missions on growth, productivity, industrial strategy, and clean energy. The conference brought together prominent figures from government, Westminster and industry, including Sarah Jones MP, UK Minister of State for Industry, Cllr Linda Taylor, Leader of Cornwall Council, and MPs from the Great South West Perran Moon, Noah Law, Jayne Kirkham and many others. The South West of England is notable for its strengths in maritime, defense, agritech, green energy and #criticalminerals. For Imerys, this was a valuable opportunity to present our historic activity, strongly rooted in Cornwall, and lay the groundwork to future collaboration notably in the promising field of #lithium We are very excited to continue to contribute to the region’s development while helping concretely to address the global challenge of #climatechange. We look forward to continuing the dialogue, and invitations have been extended to political leaders to visit our sites. There’s nothing like a visit on the field to appreciate, in full transparency, the challenges and opportunities of our industry ! #BackTheGreatSouthWest #GSWAC2024 With participation from Imerys by Mark Hewson. We had an amazing experience at PDAC 2024 last week in Toronto, Ontario, CAN! Here are some key insights from the sessions: -"Creating better workplaces leads to stronger families, fostering better individuals," as highlighted by Audrey Gilbeau, Executive Director of Nokiiwin Tribal Council. - Clyde Moonias, Community Relations Coordinator at Wyloo, emphasized the importance of mental health with "Mental Health Mondays," incorporating toolbox talks focused on mental well-being every week. - A highlight was Ecuador's President, Daniel Noboa, sharing his vision to transform the country into a premier center for mining investment. - A prevalent theme throughout PDAC was the significant impact of governmental regulations on the mining economy. Changes in government directly influence mining opportunities, making it a crucial aspect to monitor. - Unlocking Solutions in a Shifting Landscape: Geopolitical Risks Facing the Mining Sector. From supply chain disruptions to the fight for critical minerals, the industry is at a crossroads. Navigating regionalization, addressing export restrictions, and prioritizing sustainability are key strategies for resilience. The path forward requires agility and collaboration to secure the future of mineral resources. Did you attend? If so, what were some of your favorite takeaways?”

Without waterborne transport, Europe would not be able to function. According to the report on the transition pathway for the EU mobility industrial ecosystem published last week, more than 80% of the EU’s external trade and 40% of the EU’s internal trade are carried by sea. Europe’s maritime technology sector comprises some 300 shipyards and more than 28,000 maritime equipment manufacturers and technology suppliers. The report highlights the crucial role of the transition to clean shipping as an opportunity for the EU waterborne industry to regain sustainable competitiveness. This will require significant investments in new technology development in a market where the EU already plays a frontrunner role in RD&I. #horizoneurope #eupartnerships #waterborne #competitiveness #research #innovation #sustainableshipping #sustainability #valuechain
