Key factors for successful alignment of national research programmes include: the combination of (i) bottom-up alignment actions that involve research stakeholders and (ii) top-down alignment actions that involve research funding organizations and building mutual trust and consensus at all levels through regular consultations and dialogue. In line with these recommendations, the EUPHRESCO III project has organized consultations to collect the needs and the views of stakeholders that operate in plant health. Surveys and meetings are being organized in various regions of the world, lead by the EUPHRESCO III regional champions: Africa MaryLucy Oronje, Australia Jo Luck, Latin America Pablo Gómez Grande, Europe (North and South) Baldissera Giovani Jassmine Zorrilla Fontanesi CIHEAM Bari, North America Cheryl Dollard Heike Meissner, Pacific islands David AJ Teulon, Central Asia Lobar Azimova and South-East Asia Ravi Khetarpal Kodeboyina Varaprasad. Surveys and meetings are also being organized by industries active in diagnostics Marcos Amato Marco Kaiser, seed Rose Souza Richards and biotechnology ABIOPEP. For Northern Europe, feedback from more than 100 stakeholders (policy makers, research funders, research organizations, academia, industry, etc.) were collected. Their answers have been analysed by Les Kneebone Andrew Robinson in order to identify common needs and problems. The stakeholders’ perspective has now to be combined with national guidance. A workshop is organized today with plant health decision makers in Northern European countries. The event will provide an opportunity for research funders and policy makers to meet and discuss collectively research priorities. The outcomes of this work will allow to identify common research priorities that have been agreed nationally and that will enhance the coordination of phytosanitary research programmes and will support international collaboration. #research #coordination #planthealth #phrescoglobal A summary of the work is available from our YouTube channel https://lnkd.in/epwMypBc

To all my fellow Novonesis “founders,” cheers to a new era of biosolutions and exciting times ahead. Kicking off Day 1 of the largest merger in Danish history this week to unlock even greater synergies and potential together (Novozymes + Chr. Hansen) cc: Microbiome Labs Novozymes OneHealth 😉 “The time for biosolutions is now. It’s time for change. For food systems that deliver more, healthier food. For better health from the beginning of life right through to old age. And for a healthy planet for generations to come. It’s time for the era of biosolutions. Tiny but mighty enzymes, functional proteins and microbes enable change in all living things. We put that transformational power at the core of our biosolutions to help solve some of humanity’s biggest challenges.” Let’s do this!
