One thing that fascinates me about the AFMP and her choice of theme for her conferences is the relevance of the theme to current social realities. The Maintenance Economy and the Built Environment: The role of Facility Management. When we talk about Maintenance Economy, a lot of things may come to mind, but what role can Facility Management play? -no where in the world has cost of maintenance been more than cost of new assets acquisition. -be it as it may, if you are in the maintenance sector, you must have noticed the rapid decline of maintenance technicians. little do we have competent maintenance technicians. This begs the question, how do we sustain the maintenance industry? What role can the FM play as the forebearers of the industry? -do we even talk about the jobs we create when we train these technicians? -well maintained assets are more reliable and guarantees better productivity when placed sided-by-side with poorly maintained equipment. -talking about workplace safety 🦺, well maintained equipment/ facility improves workplace safety and health. ensures sustainability and improves wellbeing. It is not coincidence that every year, the association comes up with a thought provoking theme for her conference. we must collectively commend the leadership of the association. this year, the conference is moving to Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, where laws are made, I think it is necessary that as an association, we have to make some moves to the legislative assembly. Nigeria still ranks very poor in maintenance culture. this is not a conference to skipped for any reason.

【Analysis of the Energy and Environmental Sustainability of a Built Space System: The Case of Patte d’Oie University Campus in Ouagadougou】 Full article: https://lnkd.in/gci9hbFC (Authored by Daouda Sawadogo, et al., from Université Joseph KI-ZERBO (Burkina Faso), etc.) Reducing energy consumption is an essential strategy for promoting sustainable development and managing energy resources responsibly. However, there are still huge areas of energy wastage in public and private buildings, in terms of installations, equipment and consumption habits. This paper carries out a dynamic simulation of the energy and environmental performance of a #built_space system of the university campus, with a view to assessing its energy and environmental class. #Energy_Function #Energy_Class #Carbon_Footprint

The management of natural resources is a complex subject which requires reconciling theoretical discourses and practical applications in the field. The study day, which will be organized by the Research Center on Culture, Society and Development in partnership with the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences and the Scientific Institute of Rabat, under the title “Resource management natural relationships between discourse and practice", constitutes an opportunity for researchers, practitioners, rapporteurs and representatives of civil society to explore the different aspects of this complex issue. I always believe in the uniqueness of each of us ! Appreciate the hard work and persistence of my Master Student Hend A. Elhawy with her recent publication entitled " Guideline Towards Sustainable Infrastructure in New Urban Communities – Egypt" The paper discissed the challenges facing the water sector in the urban context. Where the gap tackled was the lack of guidelines for the requirements for sustainable and green infrastructure in New urban communities in Egypt. https://lnkd.in/dQPk8x2a

Dar was honoured to unveil our Ilorin 2042 Master Plan for Nigeria’s seventh largest city and its surrounding areas to His Excellency, Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq, last week. “Ilorin’s people need a new master plan to provide housing, jobs, education, transport, power, water, sewage, and communications networks to ensure Ilorin’s future wellbeing,” explains Richard Walker, Associate and Head the Planning and Urban Design department in the London office “The city has been growing fast in all directions, but without the necessary resources for the current 1.6 million population, let alone the additional 3.1 million citizens projected by 2042. It’s facing multiple challenges, including unregulated and haphazard physical development, natural disasters such as flooding, and indiscriminate and unsustainable waste disposal practices,” he adds. The Kwara State Government commissioned Dar to create a sustainable, resilient, and workable road map that meets the true aspirations of all the local communities in Ilorin and its surrounding areas, and will help them shape their Ilorin for the future. The final Ilorin 2042 Master Plan aims to balance and foster growth and development, and create a framework for easing transportation challenges, generating employment opportunities, creating healthier and more liveable environments, and attracting local and foreign investment. With its resources and, most importantly, with the vibrant momentum of its young and ambitious generations, Africa is playing an ever more significant role in global affairs. And for over 55 years, Dar has been supporting communities across the continent in designing and building the infrastructure they need to expand that role. Excited to share our Policy and Practice Review with Frontier in Water on how to achieve #circulareconomy through the reuse of #water in #Iran. This paper is authored with my dear colleague Sudeh Dehnavi. It analyzes current #policy directions, and suggests new ones considering regional experiences, in the #GCC or in #Jordan. As one of the largest countries and economies in the region, it is quite relevant to monitor the development of the water sector in Iran towards more #reuse and use #efficiency. https://lnkd.in/dyP9EYXc
