As countries across Africa commemorate Africa Day with the theme - Celebrating Past Successes While Building Towards the Future, it is a good opportunity to look at the determining factors that have major roles to play in building towards the future in Africa while we celebrate our past successes. One of those future determining factors is a Unified, interoperable and resilient internet. However, across the vast and diverse continent of Africa, the promise of a seamless digital future is often marred by the spectre of internet fragmentation. This prestigious event was organized by the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚, in cooperation with the Bled Strategic Forum, the 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, and the Chatham House 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞, and was held under the auspices of the 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚. Mr. Dag Kralj participated as a panelist and engaged with the high-level delegates, including our Foreign Minister, the National Assembly Speaker, numerous ambassadors, and representatives from EU and financial institutions. This year’s conference centered on the critical theme of green transition. With the climate crisis increasingly impacting global peace and security, the link between peace and environmental sustainability has never been more crucial. The conference emphasized the 𝐩𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in fostering environmental sustainability, economic development, and regional stability. In the context of Slovenia's membership of the UN Security Council, the conference highlighted the vital interplay between green transition, development, peace, and security. The event served as a 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫-𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 to explore how green technologies, sustainable practices, and environmentally friendly policies can drive positive change. 📺If you're interested, you can catch Dag's panel discussion from 2:10 to 3:25 in the video.
