💡 How can we strengthen food security in conflict-affected fragile settings?
In these contexts, ensuring food security is not just a priority, but an urgent necessity, as instability disrupts livelihoods and markets. The International Trade Centre has developed a two-fold approach: fostering a supportive business environment in collaboration with governments and policymakers, and empowering local farmers and businesses through strategic alliances.
Three key recommendations are offered to policymakers:
📌 Support market-led interventions that emphasize demand and buyer preferences, engaging local farmers and small firms to align agricultural production with consumer needs;
📌 Build a supportive business environment and investment climate by improving regulatory frameworks;
📌 Encourage public-private dialogue and partnerships to establish a robust support ecosystem.
