🌟 Urgent Call for Support: Foodbank Needs Your Help! 🌟 In these challenging times, Foodbank is facing an unprecedented demand for assistance and urgently requires more donations to continue supporting those in need. As the backbone of food relief in our community, Foodbank plays a crucial role in ensuring that vulnerable individuals and families have access to essential food supplies. Having personally volunteered with Foodbank, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact they have on our community. With the rising cost of living and increasing food insecurity, now more than ever, we need to come together and support Foodbank’s mission. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in someone’s life. Here’s how you can help: - Donate Food: Non-perishable items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and cereals are always in high demand. - Monetary Donations: Financial contributions allow Foodbank to purchase fresh produce and other essential items. - Volunteer: Your time and effort can help with sorting and distributing food to those in need. Let’s rally together and show our support for Foodbank. Together, we can make a positive impact and ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. #Foodbank #CommunitySupport #DonateNow #FightHunger #MakeADifference

The US is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, yet the wealth inequity gap continues to widen, the middle class seems to be disappearing, the cost of living expense increases is outpacing rise in wages, and, and, and... the list goes on. All of these "ands" are creating multiple levels of insecurity-- food insecurity, housing insecurity, education insecurity, wage insecurity. I know several of my friends Christopher Morris, CUDE, CCUFC and Mark Volz, CUDE, CCM who continue to give of their resources and time at these food pantries in Madison. What if each of us were for 30 days to give up "something" that we enjoy (i.e. Starbucks, eating out weekly) and instead donate either that money or goods in kind to our local food pantries? And then once you have figured out that you can probably do without one or two things of small cost in your life, continue to donate that money! Or even maybe go a day without eating anything and provide the money equivalent of meals for that one day to food banks and pantries...and oh by the way it might give you a small "taste" of what it is like not to have food to eat and how that impacts you not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Use the link below to see what the food insecurity looks like in your community. https://lnkd.in/e6HVa2GP FYI, In my small rural county in White County Tennessee, 16.3% of the population are food insecure- 4,480 people. #foodinsecurity #creditunions
It's been one week since a coalition of 36 Dane County food pantries released a letter to the community and held a press conference at the Capitol. We came together to sound an alarm about the rising number of people facing food insecurity and the need for both immediate support and longer-term solutions to the challenges of distributing enough food to meet the growing need. You can get involved in building a community where our neighbors don't have to experience hunger. Here's another example of the knock-on effect that food donations can have. As well as providing food support, many of our Food Hubs like Supergrans Tairawhiti Trust and their own recipient organisations such as Kaimahi Rongomaiwahine provide wrap around services for struggling Kiwis in their communities. While food may not be the only support these Kiwis need, it creates opportunities to connect with them and build meaningful relationships that help them along their journey. If you have bulk surplus stock in your business, get in touch, and we'll help you get it to those who need it most: https://lnkd.in/dfWv3DPa #foodsecurity #foodsupport #costofliving #foodinsecurity #feedback

No one should have to choose between feeding their families and other basic necessities. Organizations such as those gathered at the Capitol today fulfill a vital role in our community: ensuring that all people have access to fresh, healthy food. Thanks to their tireless efforts, we can work towards a Wisconsin where no one goes hungry. Ensuring that everyone has the ability to feed their families should be a top priority in our state. That is why it is essential that we provide food pantries and other food service organizations with the necessary resources to carry out their essential mission. As demand for their services increases, so should our support of their efforts. The time is now to act in alignment with our values. It is not enough to say that all people deserve to have food on the table – we need to ensure that food makes it there. That is why I am proud to stand beside each and every one of these vital organizations and uplift their call for additional funding and resources so they can continue to serve our communities. Only by working together can we create a more fair and equitable Wisconsin where everyone has what they need to grow and thrive.
This morning, a coalition of more than 30 Dane County food pantries, including WayForward, released a letter to the community, sounding an alarm about the rising demand for assistance and the need for both immediate community support and longer-term solutions to fill the gap. Please read and share this message with your networks! Thank you to United Way of Dane County and Wisconsin State Journal for co-sponsoring this full-page message in today's edition of the newspaper. Food donation agencies can explore hub and spoke model. One side there are established and time tested food donation entities like ISCKON, large temples, masjids, Gurudwaras which feed millions of people, young and old, daily. Then there are few warm hearted individuals who are spending their own reserves to feed few hundred hungry souls, eventually shutting operations after exhausting their funds and fundings. People are donating, without doubt, for this noble cause of hunger mitigation. Yet millions go to sleep hungry. This gap between demand and supply seems unfathomable. What if these giant food donation entities operate in a hub and spoke model? They can onboard these smaller lot of willing volunteers, who go around asking for donations for own food donation initiative, as their spokes. Large entities can become the central kitchen. People, willing to do the service of feeding hungry souls, start tieing up and source their food demand for their selected geographical location from these central kitchens. This would optimise freight logistics and a delivery van can be assigned to this volunteer to carry their demanded quota of food to their food distribution area. #hunger #hungerfornone #hungerrelief #hungerheroes #food
