It is great recommendations, will support the green fuels story, but collaboration and governments support is the key here for the right progress, in my view which is line with such statement, to achieve the conclusions mentioned in the statement, the following actions are required: 1. Address concerns about the proposed feebate mechanism: ICS, and other bodies needs to engage with governments and address their concerns before the next round of IMO negotiations in September. 2. Adoption of regulatory framework: The necessary regulatory framework for achieving net zero emissions from shipping needs to be adopted next year, with the aim of global implementation by 2027. This requires coordination and agreement among Member States. 3. Implementation of the flat rate contribution system: Member States need to support and implement the flat rate contribution system per tonne of GHG to incentivize the accelerated uptake of green marine fuels. This system will contribute to reducing the cost gap and provide funding for developing countries' GHG reduction efforts. 4. Work towards an improved Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) system: There is a need to address irregularities in the CII rating system and develop an improved system that incentivizes correct behaviors and aligns with the objectives of the 2023 IMO GHG Strategy. This requires ongoing review and collaboration among delegations. 5. Follow up on positive outcomes: The adoption of interim guidance on ballast water management, approval of fuel oil sampling guidelines, establishment of a group on carbon capture and storage, adoption of draft amendments to power limitation systems, and progress in discussions on the Hong Kong convention on ship recycling need to be followed up with appropriate actions and implementation.
