Exciting day 3 at Society of Robotic Surgery | SRS, great to participate as a “shark” in the tank with other leaders Ashley McEvoy, Christopher C. Thompson, MD MSc FASGE FACG AGAF and Amit Hazan. 18 companies presented in 3 hours 10 min each rapid 🔥. Great to see innovation alive and well. All of these comapnies had solutions to build out surgery 4.0 or #digitalsurgery. The ones I was most excited about for improving patient care and being exceptional investment opportunities centered around data and improving clinical decision making. An example is On Target Laboratories with #CYTALUX imaging agents which light up cancer peri operatively with the new Stryker 1788 camera to make it easier faster and better to do resections. Others that piqued my interest included Method AI, Ceevra, Inc. and CytoVeris . They are all using computing power, connectivity, imaging and Ai to improve surgery. Here our latest paper "An Ultrasound-Guided System for Autonomous Marking of Tumor Boundaries During Robot-assisted Surgery," just published in the IEEE Transactions on Medical Robotics and Bionics! 🎉 This work explores how to automate the process of marking tumor boundaries with high precision during robotic surgery, with the final goal of improving surgical outcomes by minimizing damage to healthy tissue. From Intuitive I got the number bang on - my prediction was 70 by the end of Q2 and I hit it to the system. "Intuitive Surgical also grew its installed base of da Vinci systems to 9,203 systems, an increase of 14% compared to the end of the year-earlier period. That included 70 of its newest da Vinci Robotic Surgery 5 systems, which just launched in the U.S. this year." This is a juggernaut of a launch !!
