Analyze your way to Your Future Career Success /Career Decision Making and Career Planning Specialist / Positive Career Futurist at Constructive Career and Life Designs
For those who know my work, know that I talk about work trends and career opportunities of the future. In looking at the work that needs doing we see the job opportunities of the future. At Cannexus 2024, I spoke on work opportunities in the government sector. Anyone familiar with what is happening in Canada’s military knows how much work needs doing. We need people and more people to meet recruiting needs. we need equipment and people to maintain this equipment. We need people in leadership and people in cybersecurity if we are to keep our country safe. This article is just one of many highlighting how badly our military needs us and how much work needs to be done just to get our military back up to basic and I mean basic operational standards. #careerplanningforabetterfuture #careers #militarycareers #canadianmilitary

For those still serving on Active Duty, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of continuous learning and certification. The DoD Credentialling Opportunities Online (COOL) program offers a pathway for both service members and DoD civilians to advance their skills within their profession. For our military personnel, tailored funding supports this journey: Army and Navy COOL programs provide $4,000 annually, the Air Force offers a $4,500 lifetime cap, and the Marines and Coast Guard each offer $4,000 annually, facilitating a culture of continuous improvement and readiness. Expanding this, the DoD Civilian COOL program bridges the gap for civilian personnel, offering resources to gain certifications vital for fulfilling critical roles within the Defense Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) and enhancing our collective defense capabilities. This initiative not only underscores the commitment to professional development but also strengthens our national security posture by ensuring that our civilian workforce is equally equipped to meet evolving cyber threats. These programs underscore a strategic investment in our defense infrastructure—arming both uniformed and civilian members of the DoD community with the knowledge and certifications necessary to navigate the complexities of modern warfare and cybersecurity. Embracing these opportunities, we can enhance one's career trajectories and make a tangible contribution to our nation's security. Leverage these resources for you and your troops professional growth and to help fortify our national defense. #DoDCOOL #CyberDefense https://www.cool.osd.mil/

There is one clear solution to address the military’s current approach to generating forces for cyberspace operations: creating a new branch of the armed forces for cyberspace.

in the future, there will be only two branches of military services: virtual forces (get a proper name for "soft"ware in fatigues... "meta"ware would do it...) and concrete (real) forces that deal with "hardware" (all of it...). Get used to it!

The competitive business of maintaining warfighting advantage over near-peer adversaries requires innovating faster than your competitors. Historically, the Marine Corps' approach to recruitment, indoctrination, and training resulted in reliable victory across warfighting domains. The below fresh approach to talent acquisition will undoubtedly produce growing pains associated with maintaining the culture responsible for these victories (being a United States Marine). On the other hand, is the historic model building advantage in emerging domains (cyber, space, information) for our Marine Air Ground Task Forces? Or are we yielding advantage to our adversaries? The correct organizational model is the one that works; the success of this pilot program will depend upon its feedback mechanism, both in quality of input, and the speed at which recommendations are implemented. If we can collectively solve the onboarding approach and maintain our cultural center of gravity, I suspect the organization immediately benefits from the inject of fresh talent, skills, and ideas. From a broader perspective, though, the Marines responsible for bringing this program to reality are doing what it takes to win the next fight.
Qualified applicants can join the Marine Corps up to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (E7). BACKGROUND Talent Management requires that we recruit, retain, and align the best talent with the needs of the service - to meet Marine Corps warfighting requirements in the Active or Reserve Component. Lateral Entry grants constructive service credit for private sector training or experience. PURPOSE The Marine Corps Talent Acquisition Pilot (MCTAP) program is designed to address the Corps' need for a rapid process to identify, train, and employ personnel who possess essential skills and relevant experience to meet warfighting requirements - at the point and time of need. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS • Marine Corps prior service • Prior service other service • Non-prior service ELIGIBLE MILITARY OCCUPATIONS • Cyber • Signals Intelligence HOW TO APPLY Email: TalentManagement@usmc.mil. More than four years after the establishment of a sixth military service, U.S. Space Force, in December 2019, a new report advises the creation of a seventh service, the U.S. Cyber Force, which would initially come under the Department of the Army. “In the U.S. military, an officer who had never fired a rifle would never command an infantry unit, yet officers with no experience behind a keyboard are commanding cyber warfare units,” said the Washington, D.C.-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ United States Cyber Force: A Defense Imperative. “This mismatch stems from the U.S. military’s failure to recruit, train, promote, and retain talented cyber warriors. The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines each run their own recruitment, training, and promotion systems instead of having a single pipeline for talent. The result is a shortage of qualified personnel at U.S. Cyber Command (CYBERCOM), which has responsibility for both the offensive and defensive aspects of military cyber operations.” #nationalsecurity #intelligence #connectivity #cyber #connectivitymatters #hacking #military #communications #cybersecurity #security #infosec #networksecurity #newspace #newspaceeconomy #strategy #constellations #satellite #space #satelliteoperatos #satcoms #satellitesystems #satelliteoperations #ops #opsec #telecommunications #spaceindustry #LowEarthOrbit #sda #megaconstellations #spaceindustry #esa #nasa #eu #europe #cyberwarfare #cyberdefense #defense #jamming #antijamming #resilience #oneweb #starlink #kuiper #mpower #SES #EUTELSAT #spacex #telesat #milsatcom #govsatcom #sda #spacecraft #internetofthings #development #spacedata #iris2 #cubesat #MichaelHadjitheodosiou https://lnkd.in/epP8SSv4

💡 Did you know: The Global Counter-Insider Threat Program (GCITP) is an authorized certification under the DoD COOL program for both Military and Civilian employees! The Department of Defense Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) program offers funding for specific, approved certifications and training programs. 🔎 What does this mean? Civilians of the DoD, as well as Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsman can apply for funding through their agency/education office for the GCITP certification. (Note: Currently, Air Force COOL does not offer funding for the GCITP program; however, that is subject to change in the future.) ⭐ What’s in it for you? The DoD COOL program can provide funding for you to take the certification exam at no-cost! This gives you an opportunity to obtain a one-of-a-kind certification for Counter-Insider Threat and Risk Mitigation. Want to learn more about the DoD COOL program?
