Japanese operator Toho Air agrees deal for an AW139 Tokyo-based operator Toho Air Service has agreed a deal for an additional Leonardo Helicopters AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopter for its Tokyo-Ai land shuttle services. The aircraft is scheduled for delivery next year. The AW139 will deliver greater capabilities in terms of navigation, cabin space and comfort, safety standards, sustainability and maintenance approach enhancing the level of service provided to Toho Air’s customers, according to the operator. The contract signing took place as Leonardo and Toho Air owner Mitsui Bussan Aerospace Co., Ltd. celebrate 20 years of partnership in the Japanese helicopter market. The partnership followed the introduction of the AW139 in Japan. AW139s are used by a number of operators in Japan for a wide range of roles. These include: passenger transport, law enforcement, search and rescue, medevac, disaster relief, firefighting and electronic newsgathering. Leading helicopter service provider Falcon Aviation Services announced today a further reinforcement of its long-term partnership with #Leonardo through the introduction of the #AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopter into its fleet supporting the Energy industry. #FalconAviation has signed a contract during an official ceremony at the Farnborough International Airshow for one aircraft plus one option.    This latest move will expand the fleet of Leonardo helicopters operated by Falcon Aviation which already includes the #AW109SP, #AW169 and #AW189 types. In particular, five AW169s and four AW189s are used for offshore transport missions in the #UAE and #Kuwait. The introduction of the AW139 will make Falcon Aviation another prime user of the entire AW Family of latest generation helicopters of Leonardo, a unique concept design based on commonalities across the three models in terms of certification and safety standards, components, cockpit layout and appearance, training and technical support approach. ➡ Qantas and Jetstar have selected Airbus Skywise Predictive Maintenance solution Qantas and Jetstar Airways have announced their adoption of the Skywise Predictive Maintenance (S.PM+) digital solution, aiming to anticipate failures, minimise delays, and reduce Aircraft on Ground (AOG) incidents. The new agreement was signed at the Singapore Airshow last week and follows an earlier agreement between Airbus with Qantas and Jetstar Airways when the airlines incorporated the Skywise platform for their fleets in 2019. It covers covers Qantas' A330 Family and Jetstar Airways' A320 Family fleets. The full implementation of S.PM+ is already underway, with Qantas and Jetstar Airways having begun to integrate the solution in 2023. #aerospace #mro #aviation

Quite a significant step in aviation industry!

In 2015, I was on this Delta DTW to ICN flight when it went through similar extreme turbulence and a hail storm over the Russia/China border. They retired the aircraft and blamed China for not allowing re-routing. https://lnkd.in/ewMrYPRv What it has in common with SQ321, is approx. 10 hours flying, approx. 2 hours until landing, and that is exactly when they wake up the landing pilots and switch pilot crew. My belief back in 2015, and now strengthened with SQ321, is that these transitions from take off to landing pilots at the 9-10 hour mark, needs to be greatly improved. I call 100% BS that a country doesnt allow the pilot to circumvent a storm. Air-to-air refuelling remains one of the most complex missions in aviation. The Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) continues its goal to make this operation faster and safer by optimising the air-to-air refuelling rate in operational conditions and reducing the flight crew workload to maximise the air superiority. The Airbus #A330MRTT has achieved a world first aviation milestone by completing an automatic air-to-air refuelling (A3R) flight test campaign in night conditions - a key step towards certification in 2025. Between May and June this year, the Republic of Singapore Air Force A330 MRTT embodying the latest A3R system configuration, conducted ten flights with Portuguese F-16s and Singapore F-16s, F-15SGs fighters and another Singapore MRTT as receiver. During these flights more than 500 contacts were performed, out of which more than 150 contacts were automatic in night conditions. As part of these night tests, contacts were carried out in different night illumination conditions and receiver external configurations. This milestone was achieved by following the development of new A3R night operation algorithms and new camera system standards. The new camera system incorporates state-of-the-art technology that not only enables the A3R to operate at night, but also improves the image quality used by the air-to-air refuelling operator during manual operations, further enhancing the quality of the A330 MRTT's vision system in day, dusk and night conditions. #FIA2024
