California customers benefit from additional affordable and clean power being added to the state grid. As part of that effort, nine Northern and central coast Community Choice Aggregation agencies joined forces again in a new Memorandum of Understanding to receive emission-free power from California’s first-of-its-kind floating offshore wind project. The CADEMO project’s four turbines are expected to go online in 2028, several years ahead of other planned offshore wind projects proposed in federal-controlled waters off the California coast. The California Community Power partnership among the 9 CCAs is critical to enable such vital projects to expand clean and affordable power to customers across the state. https://lnkd.in/gaAYKb2n

We at DLL Solutions find the innovative approach by Wyoming's Airloom Energy, which has developed a unique wind energy loop operating horizontally and close to the ground, to be a groundbreaking advancement in renewable energy technologies. This design, potentially making traditional wind turbines obsolete, offers a more cost-effective and less intrusive method for generating wind power. Airloom Energy's ability to produce electricity at a fraction of the cost and footprint of conventional turbines, coupled with significant interest from entities like the Department of Defense and investment from figures like Bill Gates, underscores its potential to revolutionize the energy sector. We are keenly watching this development as it aligns with our commitment to sustainable and efficient energy solutions. #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #Sustainability https://lnkd.in/epFwdncK

Just last month, a wind turbine in the Vineyard Wind offshore wind farm off of the coast of Massachusetts suffered a catastrophic failure when a turbine blade fractured, sending foam and fiberglass debris into the water and onto the beaches. The wind turbine, produced by GE Vernova, is a part of the Vineyard Wind 1 project, consisting of GE Vernova's Haliade-X 13 megwatt turbines. GE Vernova has indicated that the cause of the failure may be due to a manufacturing deviation. Now safety officals have allowed Vineyard Wind and GE Vernova to resume limited construction at the site. https://lnkd.in/dPiCYHPd #energyindustry #powergeneration #nuclearenergy #nuclearpower #renewableenergy #renewables #netzero #zerocarbon

𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲(𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞)_2024 A #floatingwindturbine is a wind turbine mounted on a special floating structure, rather than a fixed foundation drilled into the seabed. This allows the turbine to generate electricity in deep ocean waters where traditional fixed-foundation turbines are not feasible. Floating wind farms have the potential to significantly increase the sea area available for offshore wind farms, especially in countries with limited shallow waters. The floating wind turbine market highlights a compelling narrative of growth and innovation within the renewable energy sector. As the world grapples with the urgent need to transition towards cleaner and more sustainable sources of power, floating wind turbines emerge as a pivotal technology poised to revolutionize offshore wind energy generation. The allure of floating wind turbines lies in their ability to unlock vast expanses of deep-water regions previously inaccessible to traditional fixed-bottom turbines. Countries like Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, with their densely populated coastlines and limited land availability, are turning to offshore wind as a pivotal pillar of their energy transition strategies. Great news just in ❗ California Energy Commission adopts plan for 25GW floating wind by 2045 🎊 The plan outlines analysis and strategies to deploy floating turbines off the state’s central and northern coasts with a planning goal of 25,000 megawatts (MW) of capacity by 2045, enough to power 25 million homes. -Adopting this comprehensive strategic plan for offshore wind development marks yet another significant milestone in California’s journey to a 100 percent clean energy future, said California Energy Commission Chair David Hochschild in a press release. According to CEC, floating wind energy technology has been identified off the California coast because it’s particularly suited to deep waters and offers several benefits including the ability to access stronger and more consistent wind resources farther offshore and reduced environmental disturbances to the seabed. In 2023, David Hochschild headed up a delegation from California visiting Floating Wind Days (Pictured below). -This new important step in California's plan is very good news for Norwegian companies targeting the US floating market. We look forward to strenghtening our collaboration with the US industry on the West Coast through our working group for this market, says Business Development Manager and responsible for the US in Norwegian Offshore Wind Astrid Green.
