For many years and from many companies, come June I typically receive an email from my LGBT ERG encouraging me to use a rainbow Pride-themed signature, with specific instructions to remove it in July. While it's heartening to see so many companies celebrating Pride Month, it's crucial to call out the performative allyship that fades as soon as July rolls around. Rainbow-washing—using the LGBTQ+ community's symbols for marketing purposes without supporting us year-round—does not advance our cause. True allyship means advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and equality consistently, not just when it's convenient or profitable. It's long past time for corporations to do better. Support us in policy, in practice, and in the workplace every single day. If your commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion vanishes after June, then your rainbow logo is nothing more than a hollow gesture.Let's push for genuine, sustained support. We deserve more than a month of attention—we deserve real, enduring change.

Happy PRIDE Month! 🌈 With June now upon us, it's crucial to remember why PRIDE exists. PRIDE isn't just about celebration and joy; it's a powerful testament to visibility, equality, and resilience. In a world where the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals are still debated, where their existence is often met with hostility, and where equality is not yet a reality, PRIDE stands as a defiant assertion of identity and rights. It's a reminder that everyone deserves to love and be loved, without fear. This PRIDE, let's amplify our support and educate those around us. Let's advocate for policies that protect LGBTQ+ rights and foster an environment where no one has to hide who they are or who they love. Businesses, leaders, and each one of us have a role to play in shaping a world that upholds dignity and equality for all. Let's use this month to commit not just to celebration, but to ongoing support and action. Because PRIDE is more than a month; it's a movement towards a future where everyone can truly be themselves. Together, let's make it loud and clear: Love is love, and everyone's rights should be equal. 🏳️🌈 #ICON #ICONPride #PrideMonth #Pride #Inclusion #Diversity

RiSE up for PRIDE Every year, companies across the world show up in recognition of Pride. But the reality is that our LGBTQ+ community expect more than a once-a-year acknowledgement. They want to drive real change, where change is needed, and where better to start than the workplace. UCLA research states that 1 in 3 LGBT employees have left a job due to a lack of LGBT inclusion in their workplace. At RES, the work of RiSE has impacted our colleagues, networks, regions and businesses, and through their committed efforts RiSE have driven change and powered progress internally. Happy pride month! 🏳️🌈❤️ As we step into this vibrant month of celebration, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of visibility for queer individuals in the office space. As a proud lesbian and poly person, I understand the profound impact that being seen and acknowledged can have on an individual. It's about more than just being present; it's about creating a space where we can all feel safe, supported, and free to express our true selves without fear. While we celebrate Pride, we must also confront the rise in hate crimes in Norway (as well as the rest of the world), a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle for true equality. Let's stand united against such hate and advocate for a society where love and acceptance prevail. Visibility matters. It paves the way for understanding, acceptance, and change. This Pride, let's commit to fostering an environment where every voice is heard, every identity is respected, and every person can thrive. Here's to celebrating our unique journeys and the collective progress we've made. #Pride #Inclusivity #Visibility

What is “Rainbow Washing?” Rainbow washing, defined as using rainbow colors to show support for LGBTQ equality without meaningful advocacy, is a sneaky marketing tactic. Companies often splash rainbows and LGBTQ imagery in June but forget about it later. This practice, termed "optical allyship," is wrong and unethical, especially when companies harm the LGBTQ community. How to Avoid Rainbow Washing Your Brand: 1. Stay consistent in advocacy. 2. Elevate LGBTQ+ voices. 3. Embrace workplace diversity. 4. Donate to LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. 5. Speak out against injustice. Move forward by being a genuine ally year-round, not just during Pride month. Let's strive for authentic support and allyship beyond the rainbow-colored marketing gimmicks. #HappyPride!

Just in time for the end of 🌈 Pride Month, our friends at LGBTQ+ Victory Institute released their 2024 "Out for America" report. It is packed with insightful stats and data visualizations. We're happy to share it while highlighting a few notable findings: • Every state (plus Washington, D.C.) has at least one out LGBTQ+ elected official serving, totaling at least 1,303 LGBTQ+ elected officials nationwide. • Along with the good news, a caveat: At least 38,193 more LGBTQ+ people must be elected to achieve equitable representation. • Of particular interest to our mission: There are currently 235 LGBTQ+ state lawmakers (and only Louisiana, West Virginia and Idaho have no out legislators). Follow LGBTQ+ Victory Institute or go to https://lnkd.in/ehJwd25S to access the full report Of course, we acknowledge we must keep fighting for justice and fairness, but we also welcome this opportunity to celebrate milestones of progress. 🌈 Happy Pride!
