Pride Month reminds us of the beauty of diversity. Pride is not just a month—it's a lifelong commitment to equality and justice for all. Pride is more than a celebration; it's a call to action. It's an invitation to join a movement that seeks to build a more inclusive and equitable world. Participate in local events, support LGBTQ+ organizations, and educate ourselves and others. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to a larger wave of change. At Accenture, we know that #PrideMeansMore when we come together. Pride means more love, allies and innovation. One of the great conversations we had at the For All Summit in New Orleans was around intersectionality. What does it mean in practice for companies trying to create more inclusive workplaces? Brian Reaves and Elena Richards shared practical tips for HR leaders and employee resource groups: 1. Disaggregate your data. 2. Consider the whole talent life cycle. 3. Don't assume employees will trust you with their data. 4. Don't let employee resource groups isolate themselves. As we celebrate Pride month, consider how every experience is personal. Here's what you should consider to ensure no one is left out of the picture: https://lnkd.in/grXHsCMi
As companies acknowledge Pride Month and honor LGBTQ+ employees, it's essential to recognize the diverse identities within this community. According to Gallup, 7.6% of Americans identified as LGBTQ+ in 2023, with a significant portion being young people — over one in four Gen Z adults. Therefore, instead of treating all LGBTQ employees the same, consider disaggregating your people data to better understand and support their unique experiences and needs. RiSE up for PRIDE Every year, companies across the world show up in recognition of Pride. But the reality is that our LGBTQ+ community expect more than a once-a-year acknowledgement. They want to drive real change, where change is needed, and where better to start than the workplace. UCLA research states that 1 in 3 LGBT employees have left a job due to a lack of LGBT inclusion in their workplace. At RES, the work of RiSE has impacted our colleagues, networks, regions and businesses, and through their committed efforts RiSE have driven change and powered progress internally. Are brands pulling back on support for Pride this year? It has been a few weeks since I chatted about this with Allison Carter at Ragan Communications and PR Daily and I still believe that they are not. Rather, I think we are seeing fewer brands veering into the rainbow-washing space given the heightened risk of criticism from LGBTQ+ advocates (and vocal anti-LGBT activists) on inauthentic or superficial and performative allyship. However, those brands that understand that action earns trust are continuing to support Pride by uplifting their work to embrace inclusive policies, creating impact-focused purpose-driven campaigns, and promoting a culture of belonging by celebrating and uplifting their employees, consumers, and partners. These brands are not backing away from those values and there is plenty of data to show that this will continue to drive growth, as noted by this year's #ReturnOnLeadership (ROL) Index, comprised of companies with strategic clarity, alignment, focus, and a sense of meaning, showing that the ROL Index (+49%) has outpaced both the S&P 500 (+26%) and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (+11%) over the past three years.
Corporate Pride celebrations have faced backlash in recent years, grappling with challenges such as rainbow-washing and controversies surrounding corporate partnerships. Gerry Rodriguez, SVP, Brand Purpose and leader of our LGBTQ+ taskforce 'OutFront,' recently discussed these issues with PR Daily. He highlighted the necessity of genuine engagement and visibility, signaling a broader shift in corporate values towards inclusivity and true support for the LGBTQ+ community: https://edl.mn/4cfbh8a #EverydayPride

Happy pride month! 🏳️🌈❤️ As we step into this vibrant month of celebration, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of visibility for queer individuals in the office space. As a proud lesbian and poly person, I understand the profound impact that being seen and acknowledged can have on an individual. It's about more than just being present; it's about creating a space where we can all feel safe, supported, and free to express our true selves without fear. While we celebrate Pride, we must also confront the rise in hate crimes in Norway (as well as the rest of the world), a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle for true equality. Let's stand united against such hate and advocate for a society where love and acceptance prevail. Visibility matters. It paves the way for understanding, acceptance, and change. This Pride, let's commit to fostering an environment where every voice is heard, every identity is respected, and every person can thrive. Here's to celebrating our unique journeys and the collective progress we've made. #Pride #Inclusivity #Visibility
Wishing everyone a Happy Pride Month! “Here at Crayon, we support the LGBTQ+ community as a proud ally and inclusive company,” said CEO Melissa Mulholland. “Our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion helps us embrace what makes us strong—our differences. Pride isn’t just a time to show support, but also a time to celebrate the accomplishments and acknowledge the challenges of LGBTQ+ people throughout history. Diversity comes in many forms, and it is essential that we recognize people’s different perspectives because they enrich our own experiences.” #Crayon #Pride #Diversity

June is Pride Month. For the LGBTQ+ community, #PrideMonth promotes dignity, equal rights, and self-affirmation and is a way of increasing society’s awareness of the issues they face. As companies engage in DEI planning and initiatives, it is key that all groups are represented. The acronym LGBTQ+ has been extended to encompass a more diverse group, most recently shown as LGBTQIA2s+, indicating the continued focus on inclusion for all. As an employer, are you ensuring a welcoming, supportive, and safe workplace for all people? Do you recognize the unique talents of each individual, helping create an environment that enables employees to do their best? ➡️Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gxec7-iv

✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. Last week, to kick things off, Lucy Morgan and Seba Dyer joined a panel discussion for Campaign LGBTQ+ on allyship in the work place - there was some really interesting takeaways, so we thought we would share some of them throughout the month. 👉 Allyship Tip 1: Check your privilege 👈 Recognising your own privilege helps you to be more supportive to all marginalised groups, not just LGBTQ+ people. It forces you to view things through a different lens, and opens your eyes to inclusion. Reflecting and recognising your own unearned privileges in different aspects of your life allows you to support others who do not benefit in the same way and be a better ally to those who need it! #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent

Today, Ari Shaw, Ph.D. represented The Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law on a panel at the Milken Institute Global Conferenece on The Role of Companies for LGBTQ+ Rights. We are beyond grateful to Briland Graves, Brian Patrick Fano Carandang, and Richard Ditizio for making this important conversation come to life. “In the United States alone, nearly 14 million adults identify as LGBTQ+. The LGBTQ+ community currently wields $1 trillion in spending power—a metric that is only expected to grow. As the community becomes increasingly represented in employee and consumer bases alike, what role should corporations play in LGBTQ+ rights? How does it inform how and when companies make business decisions?” You can watch the whole panel here: https://lnkd.in/gBnrUVS6 #MIGLOBAL

This month, we stand proud and united to commemorate Pride Month, a celebration of love, diversity, acceptance, and self-expression. This is not just a time to acknowledge the struggles and victories of the LGBTQ+ community but also to reflect on the importance of creating a more inclusive and empathetic society. As we celebrate Pride, let us also remember the importance of allyship. Being an ally means supporting and standing up for the rights of those who identify as LGBTQ+. It means creating safe spaces at work and in our communities where everyone can be their authentic selves. It requires constant learning, understanding, and committing to equality and justice. This Pride month—and all year round—let's strive to spread love, promote inclusivity, and uplift each other. Because when one of us succeeds, we all do. How are you celebrating Pride month and promoting inclusivity in your community? #PrideMonth #Inclusivity #Allyship
