Stabilizing housing with proactive, collaborative dispute resolution for providers and tenants

The fall is a busy time - but not too busy to miss this great event with a fantastic line up, hosted by my wonderful colleague at the The Bar Association of San Francisco Laura Benghal and the inspiring Donald L Proby. We in the dispute resolution field know very well that increasing #AccessToJustice is indeed about those infrastructural questions like price, timing, and technology. We also know that procedural justice (i.e. how participants participate in and experience the process of justice) has a tremendous role, big enough to sometimes overtake the power of outcomes. That's exactly why after mediating an issue, parties can and do often walk away satisfied with the process even when they did not secure the agreement concessions and terms they hoped for. In the realm of procedural justice, topics like love, compassion, mercy, and freedom often become paramount for parties. Yes, some may find it strange to connect these topics to the practice of law which to many appears dry and unambiguous. If that's you, I especially encourage you to attend this event! I'd also recommend J Kim Wright and Dona Cullen for your more inclusive visions on law as peacebuilding.
