Kazakhstan repeatedly appears on the list of EU sanction packages against Russia, even though the Kremlin feels its close “friend” slipping away, causing both to be dissatisfied with the Tokayev government. Astana’s traditional foreign policy, multi-vectorism, has served the country well over its 30 years of independence, but is now increasingly under pressure. With rising tensions between superpowers, Kazakhstan faces the critical question of whether it can continue its multi-vector approach or if it must finally choose a primary ally. I recently visited Kostanay Region, where we held a seminar on state support measures for investment and entrepreneurial activities in Kazakhstan. During the seminar, we provided detailed information on a wide range of benefits, preferences, and support mechanisms for investors. 🇰🇿One of our strategic goals is doubling the national economy to $450 billion by 2029 and attracting at least $150 billion in foreign investments. This is a significant challenge, but together, through regional development and fostering cooperation between business and the state, we can meet these targets. The Kostanay Region, with its high industrial potential, stands out as one of the most attractive areas for investors. 📈Kostanay Region is actively working on 36 investment projects worth 2.1 trillion KZT, creating over 9,284 permanent jobs. Key projects include the production of "Chevrolet Onix", "SKODA", and "HONGQI" vehicles. Other priority sectors include agribusiness, renewable energy, logistics, and mining – all contributing to a vibrant and diversified economy. The future is bright for Kostanay region and Kazakhstan. Let's keep pushing forward! #InvestInKazakhstan #KostanayRegion #EconomicGrowth #BusinessDevelopment

For decades, the US and Serbia have engaged in a delicate diplomatic dance. Recently, Serbian think tank representatives visited Washington D.C. for critical talks with US policymakers. Their agenda? Navigating the complexities of Serbia's democratic health and evolving foreign policy, including unpacking its shifting alliances with Russia and China, and how these relationships impact Serbia's aspirations for EU membership. In this episode of #BalkansDebrief I am joined by Igor Bandovic, Director of the Belgrade Center for Security Policy, and Nikola Burazer, Programme Director at the Center for Contemporary Politics to discuss main concerns regarding the state of democracy, the nationalistic rhetoric and the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. What are the top foreign policy and security challenges facing Serbia currently? The All-Serb Assembly reignited nationalist sentiment. How significant is this, and what potential consequences could it have for Serbia and the security in the region? Full interview here⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e3m2mRm3

Francesco Δημήτριος Foti: "The EU Council's approval of Ukraine's accession talks, amid challenges with Hungary and US aid, raises questions about Ukraine's journey to full EU membership. The article shows the complicated political situation in the Horn of Africa after the signing of the MoU between the governments of Ethiopia and Somaliland, but also rejects the armed conflict and points out that Somaliland is the biggest victim here. CABINDA: The United Nations recommends negotiations for the transfer of powers. The colonial conflict between Cabinda, on the one hand, and Portugal and Angola, on the other, is a legal-political problem that falls within the jurisdiction of the United Nations. Negotiations are therefore mandatory. Negotiations have to be held, based on the recognition of the right of the people of Cabinda to self-determination and independence, with the authorized representatives of the Cabindan political parties inside and outside the country, with a view to transferring all powers to freely elected political institutions representative of the people concerned, in accordance with UNGA Resolutions 1514 (XV), 1807 (XVII) and 2144 (XXI), as well as UNSC Resolutions 180 (1963) of 31 July 1963 [S/5380] and 312 (1972) of 4 February 1972. For reasons of political security and stability in Cabinda and the rest of the region, it is essential that the gradual, orderly, and smooth transfer of all powers from the administering power (Angola) to the sovereign people of Cabinda be carried out within a transitional period of five years. ✒️ "It would be a mistake if the EU engaged in a quest for creative ways to keep Ukraine and the Western Balkans in the waiting room. The union cannot afford a permanent grey area of instability around its borders. It also cannot afford to continue with unreformed policies, such as the Common Agricultural Policy and Cohesion Policy, regarded as obstacles to Ukraine’s integration. In fact, these policies are outdated and costly, just as the decision making systems that allow for discretionary vetoes blocking even internal mechanisms", writes Global Focus Center Director Oana Popescu-Zamfir for Carnegie Europe. 💡 Read about the need to revamp the EU enlargement strategy and the democratic future of post-elections Europe in the new article "To Make Enlargement Happen, the EU Must Reform", at the link in comments 👇 #GlobalFocusCenter #EU #EUEnlargement #Ukraine #Moldova #WesternBalkans

We must keep a close eye on the development in Slovakia now with a new more pro-Russian Fico-government. Europe should not tolerate another state going into an authoritarian direction like in Hungary and Poland well-knowing that more countries could follow. It shows how important it is to support democracies in Europe - and media freedom as media and independent journalists are among the first targeted.
