A recent report by the CSIRO has revealed proponents of #NuclearEnergy in Australia may be waiting a while longer for mainstream uptake, as the #energy source has been judged to “not currently provide an economically competitive solution in Australia.” The CSIRO looked into small modular reactors (SMRs) as a potential source of low-emissions electricity generation, which could provide much needed firming capacity to support variable #RenewableEnergy production. Australia is rich in renewable resources, the simple truth is, we do not need nuclear reactors. France’s energy regulator CRE - Commission de régulation de l'énergie said a fourth power link to the UK would help safeguard security of supply and accommodate more renewables, after previously rejecting the proposal because of the uncertainties created by Brexit. The new link would be more beneficial to the UK than France, so the split of the project costs should reflect that imbalance, CRE said in a preliminary assessment, as it launched a public consultation on the matter. Getlink’s proposal to add a second interconnector in the tunnel between France and the UK at a cost of €1.05 billion ($1.1 billion) may be the best of four proposed projects. Read more:

Back to the future for CDN? With new tech like NET Power which delivers 0 emission electricity from natural gas, why would we not stick with baseload reliable weather independent cleaner than coal energy in the form of hydro, CANDU & natural gas that has served the country for the last half century!
