You have to expand your network to expand your understanding! We have to become deliberate in innovation for expansion. Happy New Year!!!! I am so ready to press play on the next steps to the items that moved the needle in 2023! To that extent I think this week I want to do a recap to see how effective we were with recruiting and admission’s for UpRise Nashville! 119 meetings only about connecting, brand positioning, and moving the needle! This doesn’t include the normal meetings, phone calls, team meetings, recruiting fairs etc. Oh no….. this was different, this was about moving the needle forward! In 2023 I had 119 meetings specifically pointed at expansion of knowledge, and moving into new and different spaces. In 2023 those meetings lead to learning more about the true wealth in Nashville, to teaching classes for Parents of MNPS, to Leadership Cohorts, to partnerships with Urban League, to partnerships with the Tennessee Titans. For 2024…….. let’s see how we can move that needle even further! (Let me know if we need to connect)

I recently had the opportunity to attend the UK Black Business Week | UK Black Business Show. Overall experience, valuable insights shared by the various speakers and a good networking opportunity! One thing that really stood out to me, working in the Product Development and Process Optimisation space myself, is a powerful reminder from Steven Bartlett that a great product is ultimately the result of a great team. He shared this with us, echoing Steve Jobs: ‘If you want brilliant products, build a brilliant team. The team is the source of the brilliance, the source of every idea you have.’ How do you achieve this? ‘Treat the hiring process like a product itself - iterate on it, measure it, assign an owner to it. It is the most important product for any organisation.’ By building a hiring ‘product’ this way, companies can cultivate a culture that values continuous improvement and aims for high standards in hiring, directly contributing to the brilliance of their products. For me, it’s a fantastic strategy for creating a team that’s not only skilled but aligned with the organisation’s vision and goals.

🔍 Analyzing FSU's Recruiting Misses: Tavion Wallace's Commitment to Arkansas 🏈 Florida State just suffered a significant blow on the recruiting front with the loss of four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace to Arkansas. This isn’t merely a missed opportunity; it’s a critical reflection on Mike Norvell’s recruiting strategy. In my latest article, I dive into how Wallace, once a near-guaranteed addition to the Seminoles, ended up choosing Arkansas. Despite being heavily recruited by FSU since March 2023 and frequently seen on campus, Wallace’s commitment highlights deeper issues within FSU’s recruitment approach. The article examines: - The implications of losing Wallace despite being the perceived frontrunner. - Norvell’s broader struggles with securing top linebacker prospects. - Comparisons with Florida’s recruitment outcomes under Billy Napier. - The potential ripple effects on FSU’s future recruiting efforts and reliance on the transfer portal. This is more than just a missed recruit; it’s a case study in the importance of execution and follow-through in college football recruiting. 🔗 Read the full article here and gain insights into the challenges FSU faces and what it means for their future on the field.

Graduates- If you want a template on how to get to the top of any industry you decide on and the approach, then watch Tom Brady's Patriots HOF speech. My sporting idol, but more so because he lacked so many obvious, tangible physical skills that were deemed 'necessary' to survive in a sport as rough as the NFL. His work ethic has hardly been seen in sport before, his preparation and mental toughness, ditto. Graduates coming out of University who are feeling that 'only an Oxbridge/Ivy League candidate can get that role/opportunity', plse don't. Watch the Video and realise that this approach can and does transcend all industries, not just on the sporting field. If you prepare for an Interview, you can get a job that you believe is out of your reach and if your work ethic is exceptional, you can get to the top of any industry. #thejobmentor #graduates #careercoaching #interviewtraining https://lnkd.in/eagrsjkv

This goes for ANY organization.
If your organization is led through power and control, it is a sign of an organization in trouble. It is a sign of insecure and destructive leadership. True leaders create a culture where all employees are valued and are given the freedom to speak the truth, to express their opinions even when they are different, without fear or retribution. In the Herndon Police Department, we have spent years working on our culture, how we treat, respect, and communicate with each other, at all levels of the organization. Although we continue to be a work in progress, our hard work has paid off, as we are not only fully staffed, but slightly over our authorized strength. No job fairs, no special recruiting events, no signing bonuses, no sacrificing standards to get here. Just be patient and build a solid organization by selecting the right people who share your leadership values and let them shine. They will sell the organization for you. And what a job they have done selling HPD! #BeHPD #CultureMatters #FullyStaffed #ProudMoment
