Is this a little late to post for Trans Day of Visibility back in March? Maybe. But it’s not too late for Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 In honor of celebrating the LGBTQ+ community this month, I wanted to share this powerful piece of work I got a chance to be apart of for MAC Cosmetics! MAC has been a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, donating millions of dollars to support equality, providing gender-affirming care through beauty services and products, and being a safe space for queer individuals to explore and express themselves. To help MAC announce their newest VIVA GLAM grantee and partner, The Trevor Project, we created this beautiful video that highlighted the role makeup plays in self-discovery and identity expression. 💋Career Learning: I served as the Director of Scripts on and off set, where I helped craft the conversation to feel informative, authentic, and inspirational. It was important that the narrative not only checked the legal and marketing boxes, but that it ultimately centered trans joy rather than struggle. I learned that to tell an authentic story, you have to leave room for the talent or subject to actually tell theirs and not over-produce it. 💋LGBTQ+ Ally Learning: As an ally, I try to constantly listen and learn to best support the community. To be honest, it got difficult on set at times. Emotions were high as we covered difficult self-discovery moments and discussed overcoming very hard and very real obstacles. I learned that even when there’s a job to do, humanity comes first. Give space for your talent to feel and process as they’re telling their story. A few extra breaks and words of encouragement can go a long way. Super grateful for this experience and proud to have been apart of a team that values good storytelling, good production, and good causes ❤️💄 (Shoutout to the MAC Mustache crew who I won’t tag for the sake of post length 🥲) Check out the video here: https://lnkd.in/eP67G3Jp #beauty #maccosmetics #trevorproject #transvisibility #pridemonth #copywriter

As allies, advocates, philanthropists and corporations celebrate #Pride 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ month, it’s important to lift up the intersectional nature of the #LGBTQ community. Queer people are not only Black, brown, white, AANHPI, Gen Z, old, wealthy, or under resourced. Millions of LGBTQ people also live with disabilities (both visible and invisible) — and instead of overlooking disabled people, let’s make an effort to elevate and equalize by: 1) Donating to organizations that work within the community 2) Intentionally including disabled people in your Pride marketing campaigns 3) Centering disabled queer voices in your messaging this month…and all year long. #DEI / #ESG / #Media / #ERG / #Marketing folks: If you are looking for a great grassroots organization to support and partner with, check out Arkansas Support Network (ASN). It’s an amazing non-profit in the mid-South empowering close to a thousand people in the disabled community with the ability to make decisions and direct their lives — including those who are LGBTQ 🏳️🌈. Their work is making a difference on a local, regional, and national level. If you want more info on the org, would like to become a partner, or make a Pride donation that will truly make a difference, connect with ASN CEO, Dr. Syard Evans. (Also an acclaimed speaker on disability inclusion…you’ll be glad you invited her to your corporate or policy event).

As Pride Month comes to a close, we reflect on the importance of inclusivity and solidarity.🌈✨ At Ringer Sciences, we stand with the LGBTQ+ community in celebrating diversity, equality, and love. This month, we dove deeper into the #CorporatePride conversation, from how the Fortune 100 marked the occasion, with 47% of companies participating, to social media discussions of brand involvement in Pride Month celebrations. From logo changes to charitable initiatives, brands showed their support in various impactful ways. Concurrently, consumer discussions highlighted the significance of brand involvement in Pride Month celebrations, focusing on the authenticity of support, the impact of donations, and community engagement. Let's continue to champion diversity and equality every day. #RingerSciences #PrideMonth #Inclusion #LGTBQ #RainbowCapitalism #F100

💁♀️ I help women and LGBTQ+ founders and organisations look good in an inclusive and accessible way 🏳️🌈 British Creative Business"woman" of the Year 2023-24
🌈 I am queer. And I don’t like Pride Month 😮💨 I’ll be honest — I have complicated feelings about Pride right now. We have an entire month to celebrate our existence thanks to Black and Brown, Queer and Trans people who riot made it possible for us to get our rights — rights that are still being challenged today everywhere in the world. Pride started as a riot, it should be about resistance and community. But instead, I/we need to work so much harder than any other month because this is the only month our voices get tolerated — and on top of that, corporations use them to make a (huge) profit. 💔 It is draining. This is why at Lutalica, I’m not pushing our comms team to make as much noise as we could during Pride Month. We work for the LGBTQ+ community all year round, and I don’t want my colleagues to feel overwhelmed because this is the only time of the year when straight people acknowledge us. 💪 We want to keep working for the community, providing free support to non-profits who struggle to raise funds for an inclusive brand or an accessible website. These things are not only important, they are crucial, and I will keep shouting this to whoever will listen. I wish we could have started our crowdfunding earlier than Pride Month. We could have done it later, but July and August are holiday months, in September people have no money post-holiday, and then it’s basically Christmas. So here we are — and honestly, it’s not going as well as we hoped because we’re being drowned out by voices that only speak up in the month of June. But we still need your support. 👉 Please watch the video in this post where I explain why this is important. Check out the testimonials we’ve been posting — they are proof that our work is necessary. And then, please reshare and donate to our crowdfunding campaign here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ekREhQ3U ✨ Help us design a brighter future for women and queer communities. #QueerAndProud #LGBTQSupport #PurposeOverProfit #Crowdfunding #InclusiveDesign #CommunitySupport #DesignForChange #HappyPride #PrideMonth I'm curious about what other trans and queer entrepreneurs/professionals think. 📣 This is a BIG one folks - we need your help! Today we’re launching a major fundraising campaign to support pro-bono design services for feminist and LGBTQ+ organisations! 🌈✨ In today’s climate, it’s crucial for these organisations to have a strong brand and accessible online presence. Our goal is to provide these essential tools to those who need them most but can’t afford them. Your support can make a real difference. By donating, you’re helping us amplify the voices of those fighting for equality and justice. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world. June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate diversity, and inclusivity, as well as highlight the ongoing fight for equal rights and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. We are proud to stand with and support the incredible work of Mermaids, a charity close to our hearts. Mermaids is dedicated to supporting transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families. We believe that embracing and empowering all members of the trans community is crucial for any organisation, regardless of the industry. This is why we are honoured to fund Mermaids’ local group activities, which create a safe space to celebrate and uplift the community. Jo and the Thornicroft family have felt the benefit of the amazing work of this charity first-hand. The care they have provided, and their unwavering support have been a huge help and immeasurable comfort in such a turbulent and troubled time. We strive to support them, as they have us, in the hope they will be able to continue their important work and care for other families just like ours. Mermaids also helps businesses to improve their support of LGBTQ+ employees and customers through essential resources and CPD-accredited training. If you're interested in learning more about Mermaids' training courses and how to foster a more inclusive environment within your organisation, check out the link here: Training - Mermaids (mermaidsuk.org.uk) #Mermaids #PrideMonth #Community #Inclusivity #Equality

LGBTQ+ organizations are disproportionately underfunded—that needs to change. Amidst an increasingly hostile political climate, the Human Rights Campaign has declared a national state of emergency for LGBTQ+ Americans. The impact of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric has directly correlated to a decrease in support for organizations that serve the LGBTQ+ community. Support for LGBTQ+ organizations makes up less than 1% of all philanthropic giving in the United States. At the same time, data from GLAAD tells us that a supermajority of non-LGBTQ+ Americans support equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community. It’s time to turn that support into direct action. Make no mistake, LGBTQ+ nonprofits deserve our investment. When we invest in organizations that serve LGBTQ+ folks, we are directly contributing to the vitality of our community. The stakes have never been higher. In this compelling op-ed, Tina M. Barber, MPA, (she/her) Director of Community Philanthropy, unpacks the “perfect storm” that situates LGBTQ+ organizations during this unique and unprecedented moment in charitable giving—and how LGBTQ+ allies can help navigate the waves of change.
