Such issues as “why a woman would not want to exclusively breastfeed her baby” or even breastfeed at all… is a huge concern.
This message is to adolescent girls and young mothers … Breast sag is not a consequence of suckling.
The ‘breast must sag whether one breastfeeds or not.’ 😰
Please breast feed exclusively for the first six months of your baby’s life if you are still making babies 😊🎯🥰The Breastmilk contains all nutrients needed by an infant in the right proportions for optimal growth and development.

National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, organized by the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee, highlights the health benefits of human milk and encourages lactation practices. Supportive policies are crucial in safeguarding breastfeeding rights.
In New Jersey, state law protects public breastfeeding and mandates workplace accommodations for breastfeeding employees. Nationally, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, PUMP Act, and Title IX offer similar or enhanced protections.
Still, barriers exist. While breastfeeding rates in the United States have been increasing, they remain low by international standards, with substantial racial, income, and education disparities.

Actions
To achieve the health and economic benefits of breastfeeding, investment in its protection, promotion, and support is needed. The Breastfeeding Advocacy Initiative led by WHO and UNICEF, in collaboration with other partners, calls upon governments, donors, and development partners to:
1. Increase funding to reach the 2025 World Health Assembly Target to raise the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months to at least 50 percent.
2. Fully implement the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes and subsequent relevant World Health Assembly Resolutions.
3. Enact family leave and workplace breastfeeding policies.
4. Implement the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding in maternity facilities.
5. Improve access to skilled lactation counseling.
6. Strengthen links between health facilities and communities.
7. Create monitoring systems that track the progress of policies, programs, and funds toward achieving both national and global breastfeeding targets.

As we wrap up #WorldBreastfeedingWeek, we're sharing some glimpses of the work of our nurse mentors and block coordinators who led community awareness rallies, and training sessions to educate mothers and communities about the importance of breastfeeding in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh.
With this year's theme "Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All" in mind, our workshops also contributed and highlighted the need to create a more supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers.

From August 1st to 7th August, we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week 2024, a global campaign supported by WHO, UNICEF,Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, NAFDAC and numerous health organizations.
This year's theme, "Closing the Gap:Breastfeeding Support for All", highlights the importance of providing equitable breastfeeding support to all mothers.
Breastfeeding is a cornerstone of healthy development, offering unparalleled benefits for both infants and mothers. However, many mothers face significant barriers to breastfeeding, including lack of support, misinformation, and societal pressures.
This week, let's come together to:
Raise Awareness: Educate our communities about the benefits of breastfeeding and the challenges many mothers face.
Support Mothers: Offer practical support and encouragement to breastfeeding mothers in our families, workplaces, and communities.
Advocate for Change: Push for policies that protect and promote breastfeeding, ensuring that all mothers have the resources and support they need.
Join us in celebrating the diversity of breastfeeding journeys and the strength of mothers everywhere 🤱
Together, we can close the gap and ensure that every mother has the support she needs to give her child the best start in life.

Finding time to step out of the classroom is difficult for teachers. Without mandated protection from laws and policies that support breastfeeding, many workers find it impossible to temporarily step away from their work duties for pumping or infant feeding.
A bill introduced in Arizona this week would provide important protections for teachers who are breastfeeding (reasonable break time, private spot for feeding). This protection helps people reach their infant feeding goals and facilitates more breastfeeding at six months (Smith-Gagen et al., 2014).
After several years of being in the classroom, I know how hard it is to leave the room, even to go to the bathroom! Hats off to AZ for recognizing that teachers need support for breastfeeding.
