RTIH Top 100 Retail Technology Influencer, Retail Commentator, International Speaker and Expert on the Home & Garden Industry. Group Managing Director | Sales & Marketing Director
With Sustainability now high priority for every Home and Garden retailer, I’m surprised that the majority of these businesses continue to turn a blind eye to the clearance of their returns, damaged products and end of lines. Each year in the UK more than 670,000 tonnes of furniture enter landfill or the incinerator, of which most is still usable, and yet at the same time, we know there is rapid growth in consumer demand for preloved items What I can’t understand, is why we don’t have a Vinted type marketplace for sofas and furniture? The good news is - I think I may just have found it. The ReHome Platform gives retailers the opportunity to manage their returns, overstock and end of line items by integrating the Rehome technology, which lists these items directly on to their marketplace for resale. Founders, Carly Downer and Marc Downer have dedicated the past year to extensive research, refining their vision to create Rehome. They have a single goal which is to ensure more items are rehomed and less items end up in landfill or the incinerator and to do this they want to work with retailers directly to help them solve this problem. There’s more here - www.rehomeplatform.com And you can read about it on Insight DIY here - https://lnkd.in/eEVVB5GT Check it out and if you’re interested request a demo from Carly and Marc by connecting and DM them or just type ‘Yes’ in the comments below. #retailnews #sustainability #retail #homeimprovement

🌿🏢 Expert Insights: The Benefits of Artificial Plants 🌿🏢 In a recent article by Vistafolia, the advantages of artificial plants are explored, shedding light on their potential benefits for homes and businesses. Let's dive into the key points and their implications for our industry. Firstly, artificial plants prove to be a cost-effective choice as they require no ongoing maintenance or replacement. Additionally, unlike real plants, there are no initial costs associated with growing them to maturity. This can be a game-changer for businesses looking to enhance their spaces without breaking the bank. Secondly, the reduced maintenance artificial plants require is a significant advantage. With minimal care, such as occasional dusting, they can maintain their aesthetic appeal. This saves valuable time and effort, especially when compared to the regular pruning, watering, and fertilizing that live plants demand. Thirdly, the customization options that artificial plants offer are impressive. Unlike real plants, they can be easily manipulated to fit any desired design and placement, allowing for creativity without environmental hindrances. This flexibility is particularly valuable when designing spaces like offices and hotels where aesthetics play a vital role. Moreover, while live plants provide air filtration, artificial plants can still positively impact our wellbeing. They have been found to improve mood, morale, productivity, and focus, creating a more positive work environment. This insight ties in with the growing trend of incorporating biophilic design principles into our spaces, emphasizing our innate connection with nature. Lastly, artificial plants are a safer option for those with allergies. The absence of pollen and other allergens reduces the risk of triggering reactions and compromising the health of individuals. Overall, this article highlights the many benefits of artificial plants – cost-effectiveness, reduced maintenance, customization options, wellbeing benefits, and allergy-free environments. As industry professionals, let's foster discussions around integrating artificial plants into our spaces, leveraging their practicality and aesthetic appeal. Want to explore further? Check out PlasticPlant Company's website for more information on how artificial plants can enhance your spaces: https://lnkd.in/g3DFzC6k Let's reimagine spaces and embrace the possibilities! Furniture is one of the last things people consider regarding indoor air quality, but anything you bring into your home can impact the air you breathe. A few things you can do: ✅ Purchase re-loved furniture from a thrift store or online community group, which is more sustainable than buying new. The furniture has also had a chance to off-gas, making it a healthier option. ✅ Check labels and product descriptions for what products are made of. Opt for natural materials, like organic cotton and wool, natural woods, and anything without added chemicals. ✅ Research the manufacturing process for sustainability and any potential health risks. The Power of Greenery in Event Styling: A Spotlight on Pop Up Gardens At On Purpose, we create memorable, impactful events built on #sustainable event design principles. This past weekend, we had the pleasure of producing a special event for the local Carer community on behalf of the The Benevolent Society and Carer Gateway Ltd. With the help of expert green styling partner: Pop-Up Gardens, we incorporated lush greenery, botanicals and natural elements into the event design to have guests feel more comfortable and at ease. The addition of plants and greenery into an event has numerous benefits - creates a fresh, inviting and relaxing environment, improves air quality, is eco friendly, and stress reducing making attendees feel at ease. Pop Up Gardens, led by husband and wife team Iain and Emilie Porterfield, put eco-friendly at the heart of their business. Here's why we love working with them: 🍃 Local Growers: Pop Up Gardens partners with local growers to source the freshest and most beautiful plants. This not only ensures high quality for event day but also supports the local economy and reduces environmental impact. 🍃 Sustainable Styling: Their approach focuses on sustainability, using reusable and recyclable materials wherever possible. All excess plastic nursery pots are returned to nurseries for re-use. Any end-of-life plants are composted and fed back into the soil. 🍃 Innovative Designs: They worked closely with us to create innovative and creative designs that led to unique, eye-catching botanical installations in line with our vision. 🍃 Low Impact: With a focus on low-impact styling, their installations are both beautiful and practical. They consider factors such as ease of setup and breakdown, making the entire process seamless and efficient. With the help of Pop Up Gardens we can create stunning events with low environmental footprint. #eventdesign #eventstyling #sustainableevents #ecofriendly #creativedesign [Living Green Wall | #eventprof Christina Boje]

Welcome to DAYHOUSE LIVING, a BIOPHILIC MAGAZINE, where DESIGN meets NATURE, HEALTH and SUSTAINABILITY. Since not many people know terms like biophilic design, regenerative design, nature-centric design, design for health, multisensory and restorative spaces, building biology and neuroaesthetics, the magazine aims to fill this knowledge gap within a general population. We launched the Dayhouse Living magazine to raise awareness about how science-informed design of the built environment can nurture well-being. We hope everyone can find something of interest. For example, how much do you know about the health benefits of urban trees? What do you know about limestone-based paints? Our feature article, “Healing by Design”, is a lay version of our peer-reviewed article “Healthy Dwelling”, we published in 2022 (LINK: https://lnkd.in/gUVruDRf). We look forward to receiving feedback and suggestions on the content, while we continuously improve the overall quality of the Dayhouse Living magazine. It’s always work-in-progress….
