Some know, some don’t, that I crashed out of construction back in 2017, not too long before #Grenfell, finally throwing the towel in, just after #Carillion hit the buffers in 2018. In fact 2018, proved to be the toughest year of my life, for so many (personal) reasons, and ending that year with an #OBE from the late #HMQEII, seemed bitter-sweet at the time. My award for #ServantLeadership had come at such a huge and heavy price, it almost seemed pointless, but I truly recognise the role that such 'humble' recognition has played since then; please see the link below ‘Crashing out’ in 2017/18 …… was painful 😓 but we #KeepItMoving ! https://lnkd.in/e-UzudRB It’s now June 2024, some seven (7) years later and I’m at the helm of an amazing group of industry #professionals, all selflessly willing to support me and my ‘crazy vision’ for the Digital Twin Skills Academy CIC which began 'life' last year (April 2023) in honour of the seventy-two (72) victims of the globally renowned Grenfell Tower tragedy. Despite the green light and operational phase of the #BuildingSafetyAct, effective since the 6th April 2024, our industry is struggling both to comply and #upskill, in order to successfully deliver the #GoldenThread for industry #clients, both large and small. Earlier today [17.06.24] I had the most amazing ‘comeback’ meeting with a dear friend and industry #ally Brian Berry, CEO at the Federation of Master Builders. We shook hands, and had a good old natter, as I was given a deeper level of insight into elements of their election #manifesto and just some of the current ‘pain points’ for #FMB Members, many of whom I know well [Chris Carr, now National President!]. Some members also trade as a #Chartered #BuildingCompany 'CBC' a noteworthy scheme for businesses that are led by members of The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)]. The CBC is administered by another amazing team led by yet another dear friend, Caroline Gumble (Dr). So today, given their approach and commitment to #digitalskills and ‘inspiring #YoungTalent’ I’ve committed my own passion and industry #subjectmatterexpertise to the largest trade association for [#SMEs] in the UK construction industry; my #FMB family. I remain determined to help EVERY member, raise their game, both in the interests of themselves and their clients. God willing, and often the ‘last line of defence’ on any project, it’s time to bring the #DigitalTwin to life, for the #microbusinesses in construction & #retrofit _ 💥 watch this space! PS: meeting up with Brian, after seven (7) years, was truly emotional ☺️!! https://lnkd.in/ezuAz_Yh

One of the common messages today from ourselves in the CTTC, our colleagues from across the industry including Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann and the Go Ahead group is the vast number of opportunities that exist throughout the industry including drivers and mechanics. Apprenticeships offer excellent opportunities for young people interested in a rapidly evolving field of expertise that will be vital in helping our country to achieve our 2030 emissions targets. We also discussed the need for an equitable approach by government to fare reduction initiatives, the need for changes to VAT rules to support the transition towards more sustainable and accessible fleets and traffic management interventions to improve efficiency and reliability of services through more biased road share and better facilities for coach tourism and event travel in all major cities and towns.
CTTC Executive member, Brendan Crowley of Wexford Bus making his opening statement to the Houses of the Oireachtas Transport Committee on challenges facing the industry. Tune in here: https://lnkd.in/eGhHv6s7 #BusesMoveIreland

We are thrilled to share our experience from today's panel discussion on supplier diversity, hosted in downtown Calgary by the Supplier Diversity Alliance of Canada (SDAC) 🌈🤝. Diversity in suppliers isn't just a checkbox; it's about creating an inclusive, supportive ecosystem that benefits everyone involved. Here's how Precipice has benefited from becoming a diverse supplier: 🌟 Access to safer, more supportive work environments through partnerships with corporations associated with Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), championing the 2SLGBTQAI+ community. 🌟 Feeling less alone in the entrepreneurial journey, thanks to a supportive and inclusive community, even if support comes from afar - there are resources and mentor opportunities galore! 🌟 Opportunities to meet and partner with other diverse suppliers, expanding our network and impact. Supplier diversity is more than a policy; it's a pathway to innovation, inclusivity, and creativity. Let's advocate for more inclusive business practices! #SupplierDiversity #InclusionMatters #BusinessForAll 🚀#differencemakesusstronger #leadershipdevelopment #leaders #traininganddevelopment
Today, we had a blast in #Calgary with the whole #SDAC crew! We met corporates and suppliers to network and discuss what's next for #SupplierDiversity. There's still time to join us in Winnipeg and Vancouver before this live #SDACGoesWest tour is over. With Cassandra Dorrington, Kerri Robinson, MBA, ACC, Jess Robinson Lychak 🏳️🌈 (MA, PCC), Alex Gysen, Kris Ruiter. #CAMSC Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) and Inclusive Workplace and Supply Council of Canada (IWSCC).

Universal Design expert planner. Keynote speeches + workshops on how to create a better built environment for people with disabilities. Award-winning storyteller creating content for major nonprofits and corporations.
Cannot think of a better way of reconnecting communities, than injecting Universal Design into policy, practice and projects. One of the biggest barriers to multimodal transportation and pedestrian mobility is the lack of Universal Design in the built environment. A person with a disability cannot access the world's greatest Bus Rapid Transit, Commuter Light Rail, Autonomous Vehicle Fleet or even cross the street to get to a park -- if sidewalks are blocked, broken, incomplete or just plain too narrow for a wheelchair user to use safely. Transportation networks are only as good as the connectivity that facilitates mobility by all people of all abilities. I look forward to holistic projects that erase ableist design that segregates, isolates and does injustice to 60+ million people with disabilities.
Cadmus has been awarded up to $27 million to establish and administer the U.S. Department of Transportation's Reconnecting Communities Institute (RCI). Under this contract, the RCI will serve as the Build America Bureau’s center for learning and capacity building, empowering communities to develop and execute reconnection projects. #reconnectingcommunities #transportationplanning https://hubs.la/Q02sjtpy0

London's commitment to becoming a net-zero carbon city by 2030 is ambitious and inspiring. The journey ahead presents both challenges and opportunities. We must navigate two crucial questions: Will the transition to a net zero future be fair and inclusive? And can we achieve it quickly enough? Our CEO Kieron Boyle writes about how businesses and investors are seeking solutions to those questions for London Chamber of Commerce and Industry's #LondonBusinessMatters magazine. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/emuF9NAa What do you think it takes to make a fair and inclusive transition a reality? #impactinvesting #justtransition

Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) not supporting Ontario Business? Why is this in Nashville and not in Ontario? This makes no sense. "WE BUILD ONTARIO" .... but our annual general meeting and conference outside of Ontario. . . outside of CANADA 🤔? Missed Opportunities by not having the AGM in Ontario: - Supporting Ontario Businesses and Venues - Chance to schedule tours to buildings actually constructed by Ontario General Contractors - Inability for people to attend because of cost and time (We actually run businesses you know). - Ontario media coverage - Ontario Colleges and Universities being highlighted. This really shows how tone-deaf associations can be. This shows that conferences and tradeshows are really just vacations that can be written off on taxes. #WeBuildOntario #OGCA #Construction #Ontario What do you think of this?
